Mr2

Reposting because nobody could beat it last time.

Name ONE car with 200hp or more that's lighter than the SW20 MR2 Turbo (2750 lbs).

Hardmode; no fwd

Any supercharged Lotus Elise.

Fitting, considering an MR2 is just a poor mans Lotus.

Mr2 is king

I just found out today that there's a convertible SW20.

Pic related, yeah it's all factory.

This is pushing it, admittedly, but you can get a stripped-out GT86 in Japan (called the RC). 205HP and 2650-ish pounds.

Too bad the usdm doesn't get to see cool stuff

What shit is that stripped model missing?

First generation mustang with a HiPo Windsor V-8
>210 hp
>2445 curb weight
>rwd
niiiiiiiiigaaaaaaaaa

I was gonna bring up the 'ol 944 -- but only the NA models are that lightweight. Turbos push anywhere from 2900-3100lbs stock. Super easy to strip down though.

wasn't sure when i read your thing, but yeah doesn't look bad at all. hows it look top up?

I always liked the looks of a 944. Too bad it would probably shit the bed if I tried to DD one.

It's straight up a Porche

Ford would make me so happy if they went back to making the Mustang small, like they did with the original and the Foxbody.

Big engines in small cars > big engines in big cars

>2750lbs

holy fuck that is fat. just boost a miata

No radio, no passenger airbag, not sure if it has aircon, no infotainment. It's literally sold as a car they expect you to mod the shit out of, it's even on steelies.

Paint, for one.

>implying 1250kg is light
oi vei

2855lbs.

>52 more hp.
>much nicer
>badgewhores like it

GC8 WRX and WRX STis were around 2600-2800lbs.

Also seven times more expensive
;-)

A GC8 with a turbo is seriously my dream car. Pretty much the only lightweight awd cars ever.

closer to only twice as much, really.

a decent mr2 turbo isn't a cheap car either

Steelies ;)

They didn't even paint the fascias in the toyota version

if you will forgive 100 lbs ~

I can't find anywhere that says an SW20 Turbo is 2750 lbs. Must be a super rare hardtop model? The T-top turbo is 2888 lbs according to some sources.

Pic of one on a scale?

Because I was going to bring up the Boxster too. Stick with early model base cars to keep the weight low.

>205hp
>to the crank

still only 170whp

Also maybe not relevant to those in the US, but I'm sure a 1991 Nissan Silvia K's is similar weight and power as the SW20 turbo.

As if drivetrain losses don't apply to MR2s.

mr2 turbo can easily reach 290whp on stock turbo, ecu, injectors, provided you also go with 3 inch turbo back and get a larger intercooler.

your mums sweaty snatch

You can do that with most factory turbo cars. I thought we were talking stock here. Because guess what... You can remove weight from both cars too. And for free, even. Which would make this whole argument irrelevant.

There's at least 50 different make/models from the early 60s that meet this criteria

>Curb weight: 2,376 lb (1,078 kg)
>Power Output: 406 bhp (303 kW; 412 PS) at 7000 rpm
>Torque Output: 349 lb·ft (473 N·m) at 4500 rpm

yea... "gross" horsepower maybe. Dyno one of those.

Not sure why you think 210hp out of a 5l with 10.25:1 compression and a 600cfm carb would be difficult to attain, if anything the 1964 K code was underrated and the 1965 (the one dyno'd in the link) was accurate in it's claim

>Curb weight: 1,100 kg (2,425 lb)
>4.0L Mk1: 360 bhp (268 kW), 310 lb·ft (420 N·m)
>4.2L Mk2 T440R (2003): 440 bhp (328 kW) @7600 rpm, 475 N·m (350 lb·ft) @/6000 rpm

>Curb weight: 1,100 kg (2,425 lb) (Speed Eight)
>1,060 kg (2,337 lb) (4.5 Lightweight)
>...a 4.2 L V8 producing 360 horsepower (268 kW) and gave the Cerbera a top speed of 185 mph (297 km/h). A 4.5 litre version of the engine was later offered with 420 horsepower (310 kW).

Thanks for proving my point. Testing an engine on an engine dyno with no accessories and an electric water pump. Perfect definition of "gross" hp.

I can rely on the SW20 to actually work, though

>proving your point
>in disbelief that it could make 210hp
>makes 270hp

>moving the goalposts

270 gross hp.

>still doesn't know the difference.

If playing easy mode, an rsx type s has 200hp and weighs about 2700

I did last time motherfucker

>Subaru BRZ
>2600lbs
>205-210 horsepower

Floppy compared to modern cars, but will take a 400hp motor through the drive train and still drive with good dynamics.

the GT-Four is about 2600 pounds iirc and makes around 250 hp

never mind, just looked it up and it weighs just over 3000 pounds. Disregard my post

So far the only USDM wins are;

1997 Boxter
>expensive and unreliable
(inb4 "muh german engineering")

RSX Type-S
>easy mode

FRS is 27xx
BRZ is 28xx

Still close enough to be a win

>Spider
unicorns m8

S2K comes pretty close weight wise.

>2800lbs
>~250hp

Also, RSX type S, NSX-R

>water pumps parasitically draw 70hp
>the MR2 horsepower is measured at the wheels

>so far the only wins are x and x, if you ignore at least 50 other cars already mentioned

Cars need to be USDM and stock. Should have clarified I guess?

elise or built 2zz mrs.

Only thing that can defeat a mr2 is an mr2 + tune

s2000

only because it's awd. if it was rwd it would be the right weight.

Does anyone know if the first generation mr2 came with a hard top? No moon roof, no t-top, just metal.

Yes 85 models made before June will be hardtop only.
