They literally die on turn 5 if they even attempt to drop Elana's on turn 3 or use early amulets. If they focus on spamming heals and removal then they just die on turn 6,7,8 because their board control is shit without the buff from Elana.

Elana was popular because it was good against the slower Otohime and Tempo elf midrange decks that were prevalent in DE. I've been spamming """mid""" sword to climb and I've never lost to the few Elana players I've met on ladder.

Shadowlogs shows they have a pretty shit win rate against sword in general and gets its ass-kicked by both wolfbolt and roach combo. The only thing it counters right now is shadow aggro (not surprising) and Daria.

If aggro-centric decks get fucked over in ToG, then Elana might make a small comeback.
