Last time when Anet announced an expansion at the end of the LS it still took forever to release and inbetween we got 0 content. It was announced in January and launched in October.
This time around we don't even know how many LS episodes are left. And I bet we'll get another content drought the moment they announce it, although the current LS is pretty much a content drought as well, save for the new fractals and raid.

In fairness to the Anet staff, they had zero experience in creating and releasing an expac, and I don't think expacs were in line with their original business model (being constant LW updates instead). Plus they did a lot of back-end redesigning to accommodate new systems like the elite spec and mastery systems. I think these things contributed to the slow down in their schedule previous to HoT.
This time they seem to be scheduling things to accommodate the release of the next expac. I think Anet said that as the LW development staff finish with their respective episodes, they're moved onto the expac dev teams. I think there was also some talk about the seasonal teams also moving onto the expac team.
Hopefully, the transition from LW to expac is a bit smoother (and quicker) this time.

As I said in the previous thread it'll cost as much as HoT. There's no way it'll cost less, you can just forget it.
But they can revamp the character slot bonus, so that everyone who buys Exp 2 gets a free slot. They can also add boring af shit like minis and outfits, even with Exp 2's standard edition. Or a handful of gems, like say, 400.

I dont. I like that they've got their own relevant, interesting story, theme and unique visuals/challenges that put regular PvE to shame.
I just dont have time to bother really learning them and I question my toaster's ability to not lag out during an important encounter in such places to end up burdening my allies.
Also, Ive been guildless since I started playing and havent bothered trying a training run, because time, again.
I rely hope Anet continues making good raids with lots more story and unsolved mysteries that may not be a direct focus on the story, or supplementary at best.

Loot-based incentive for doing them for those who want more than just a behind the scenes look at major developments. In the grand scheme of things, it'll be the same stats as Ascended with the possibility of changing stat combos, but aside from that and the unique skin, there's not any real advantage of having it.
If Raids are only for the "hardcore elite", then surely they can earn something that's worth grinding that shit every week, even if its a cool look and a convenience. I'd like if you'd have to do other game modes to complete them, though...

Anet's story is garbage anyways, legendary armour is not going to come out within our lifetimes (besides, who cares it's the same stats as ascended), and Anet's balance has always been complete fucking shit. Remember back when PvEers were complaining about how the game was balanced around PvP, while PvPers were getting fed up and just quitting the game over how completely garbage the balance was? It doesn't matter what Anet uses to balance around, because it'll be just as unbalanced if they picked any other game mode to balance around, because they are absolute shit at balance.

Raids are shit for their own reasons, largely to do with the fact that the game breaks down into a sloppy shitshow, both visually and mechanically when there's more than 3 PC's in the same encounter, but that's the entire fucking game now. You don't have to make up shit excuses in order to attack it, there is plenty of legitimate things wrong with the game that you could pick from.

What kind of gear do healing druids usually take to raids?
Just got back into this and I want to aim for raiding but there seems to be quite a few variations on what people take. I don't have any leather gear so I'd have to start fresh in that sense.
My other option is going condi warrior because I've got a set of zojja's ascended that I could potentially swap to viper's. Would that be a better idea?
I guess it'd also be helpful to know whether a power druid or condi warrior is better in fractals or do classes basically never matter?

These raids are easy compared to other ones, but that doesn't mean Anet shouldn't have stuck to their sweet spot, 5 man content. Heck, one of the more common comps is mirror.

I say combat system and you talk about team comp, I really meant combat system. Dodging, movement skills, cc focus, toughness tanking, support (as opposed to dps) etc, all these things have been in the game since release and were barely ever used until raids and now they're everywhere in the newly released PvE content, open world, story or fractals.
Without the raid team who actually understood how to design content for the combat system, we would still be bashing the same boring enemies since vanilla.

I did talk about the combat system, and my point was certain things like healing weren't supported til HoT. Support was though, and it helped in dungeon/fracs. Other aspects that you mentioned, like CC and movement skills, were there in the game. I wouldn't say "barely used", CC was important in fracs, movement skills in PvP gamemodes. But I brought up team comp separately because of what people have been complaining about in raids on here, they can be pretty tedious to organize, and there isn't a huge need for 10 people like it was designed for. Those who've been working on the recent fracs have been doing a good job showing what hardcore content in a 5-man setting could be like, and it's much easier to get a group for compared to pug raids.
