/indie/ - Indie and Obscure Games General

Last thread: >What the fuck is this
/indie/ is the general for all indie games, such as LISA, Yume Nikki, OFF, Middens, Underrail, Machinarium, DashBored, Vampire of the Sands, Braid, Limbo, Axiom Verge, Guacamelee, The Desolate Hope, Burrito Galaxy, Gone Home, Stardew Valley, etc. as well as other games that just don't fit in any other general such as Atelier, Rayman, Pillars Of Eternity, Rise Of Nations, and Valkyria Chronicles.

Mobile or consoles, flash or unity, freeware or early access. This place is a home for the indie game community and indie and obscure games that don't have a home. So be free to talk and share all your hidden gems, forgotten games and starving devs here.

>Can I talk about games that already have a general?
We mostly discuss games that are not popular enough for their own threads (since they have no other home in Veeky Forums), however, all indie games are allowed. So talk about them if you want, but don't overdo it since you already have other generals for that.

>How can I contribute?
All we need right now is people to talk about their loved indie and miscellaneous games, so don't be afraid to post, bump and reply your fellow anons. Also we're looking for anons to make new pastebins/wikis/images and update the ones already made. And please give lots of feel, love, kind and nice to everyone, except namefags. And be sure to make a new thread if nobody else does.

Let's all look back fondly at Environmental Station Alpha and all of its ARG post-game glory

Anyone play the Specter Knight campaign yet?
His gameplay seems fun.

>A Hat in Time coming this decade
kek

Yooka Laylee wont let me down though

They are practically almost done.

I tried to create a ship mod for FTL and saved it as resource files instead of .ftl so I could work on it later. I can't do that apparently. Now I have to do the whole thing all over again. :/

What is the Twin Peaks of indie games?

Lone Survivor

...

Meant to get to this a while ago, but posting the last effects I got to bump the thread a bit.

Forgot to take a screenshot where I actually obtained it, but the highlighted effect is the last one I got.

And that's it. Don't know if the user who originally requested me to post these actually cares too much, but it was fun regardless.

Was that your first playthrough of Yume Nikki?
And you did go to the ending right?

Most strikiing image

I'm doing the 1-hour puzzle in The Witness.
What should I do whilst I wait?

Watch anime.

>Big Chest Casino
wonder how it got that name

play nintendo

Watch this guy talk about the Witness

that's good video

that ship puzzle goddamn, too hard

Yeah, first playthrough, and I saw the ending. I'm considering checking out Yumi 2kki now.

Anyone have an idea when the next steam sale is before the big summer one?

How do you guys think the "discovery of Buddy" went down? I'm replaying Lisa and noticed you don't see any dead Rando soldiers at Brad's house or on the way to the first crossroads, but you see the skull markings here, indicating that they were present.

It seemed like a large group of people attacked the home, so I don't think it was just some random guy who passed by and maybe saw Buddy without her mask. I think Sticky and Rick told Rando's army about Buddy, and they were on their way to pick her up, but there was an intel leak and the info found it's way to the general populace, where it spread like wildfire.

My headcanon was Yado was the one who told everybody that Buddy was there.

I'm guessing this was the knife Brad had given Buddy to practice her shanking skills.

Would Buddy have been particularly powerful if she had lost her sword/knife? At the end of the game, one of the Hernandez bros says that he was "completely overpowered" by Buddy. It was just a fat spic, but that's still enough to take on an average girl if she didn't have any weaponry on her. Or maybe she popped some joy before taking on the Hernandez.

Anyone remember how many bow and arrow users were in the game? Besides Olan, I remember Rando's army having archers. Where there any non-Rando army archer enemies? The only ones I could think of are Sindy's men, but the Warlord's don't seem to have any power outside their domain, R-army is the only people we see with influence outside of their turf. If so, it seems like a band of Rando soldiers shot up a car that wanted to attack their little blockade and they beat feet to the east.

Also, was Fardy involved with the escape? I've seen some people say this guy is talking about Buddy, but maybe Fardy was helping to transport Buddy, and wound up getting left behind at the bridge.

Aw yeah I just started a new project zomboid playthrough.

I love the first year of that game. Insane zombie levels nowhere is safe have to loot and scoot just to get food to survive and hope your weapon doesn't break before you get a backup. Waking up at 3 a.m. feeling uneasy and finding out there are 10 zombies in your kitchen between you and all your food and you've got to get the hell out of the house.

If you've never played it before it's like if the Sims was a zombie game

Sounds like exactly what I'm always looking for in survival games. Can you recommend other (not necessarily zombie) titles that provide similar experiences? Project Zomboid is on my list for years but I avoid Early Access titles.

>Ceiling-Fan Knight

origin seal do not steal

>watch shit about the witness while playing the witness
lol

Add the new niflas game?

Thanks for running this, user.

Better than the "Game of the Thread" thing I tried that never really took off.

That box placement puts me off. There is just no way such a big crate would be placed asymetrical to the layout of the city because it would lead to a ton of additional force needed during the work with it.
It looks exactly like what a bad artist would do to make his boring map design look more "natural"

Yes thanks for posting. Nice that you enjoyed it.

This is half off on Steam right now, can anyone vouch for it? Looks kinda cozy.

Yes it is a very nice game. My only real negatives are the streatched HUD and the HORRIBLE camera. You can not zoom in and out, only left and right rotate which leads to a lot of problems in later levels that have very tight corridors.

>Pick up the pokemon go item in Isaac
>The headless blood laser things can one-shot Krampus

Well that's not terrifying at all

This game has a really slow start. I dragged it out even harder by talking to every person in the town before going to the training quest.

...

Get Uurnog on there.

what

I thought one of Brad's friends explicitly said they ratted him out for the sake of the future

What does everyone think of Narita Boy? I'd say they're really nailing the aesthetic and atmosphere, but I can understand why people feel it's a bit overdone.

Did the townspeople say anything entertaining or interesting?

Visuals are nice, there's definitely a lot of work went into it
Theme borders on retarded
Plus it looks mechanically void

Story and gameplay seems fine. The fake retro CRT filter is a big no though.

Most is normal life world building like talking with former coschoolers or learning that the boy worked part time in the weapon shop but there were some interesting scenes with children referencing to a secret hideout and a guy asking out a girl but she refuses because of the wrong location. It's also funny how everyone makes fun of the female lead for being such a klutz.

What would fall in the category of obscure games?
How do i know if its obscure?

When you suggest it for discussion and no one discusses it with you

Usually games that aren't on large platforms (read: Steam) fall into that category immediately.
Short fangames, very little discussion shows up when searching for them, that sort of thing.

bump

You're probably still going to miss some quests. I should probably replay the first game now that I have the second.

Basically if it's not being discussed anywhere else it's good

I love the Witness, my favourite game of '16, but this guy is on point

>Raincat actually going to come out
I don't believe it.

Did anyone try Halcyon 6?

I hate my life

Anyone here familiar with Half-Quake series?

How old is this? Must be from the last century.

you should, 2kki is one of my favorite games and it's like 20 times as big as yume nikki

I feel cheated

Ok, that one is pretty bullshit.

By "ratted out" I figured they mean "told Rando/'s army about it" not everybody within earshot who wanted a piece of Buddy.

>raiden coil + angry bullets
ACTIVATE IT

ok

SHOULD I GET UNDERRAIL

YES IF YOU LIKE CLASSIC CRPGS

OF COURSE!

YES GO GET IT

Yeah, it's pretty old, it's a series of IWBTG-ish Half-Life mods

Any other indie games with anti capitalistic and industrialisation message?

...

I am greatly aware of the hipocracy but still apreciate the presented stories.
Fuck paying 20 bucks for a 2d game though.

Well, another 6 bucks down the drain.

>in-game character's line
>hypocrisy

Little inferno isn't really about capitalism or industrialization, it's kind of a jab at people using non-productive pastimes like playing videogames.

any comfy game that isn't lineal like harvest moon ?

Knytt series, especially underground.

Jesus Christ.

>activating the jimjam
and whose fault is that?

local man kills the past

>local man kills the past
If I don't choke on the Robot's past a 2nd time.

20 dollars is a little high, I'd go for 14

But if you are really interested in it I'd say pay the full

...

Yay

To be fair it's a sentiment carried by one of the bellends that does the art as well, iirc

>and whose fault is that?
I want unlocks too, you know.

oh man someone tweet this at the creators

This. We need to trigger the jew

Finally. That was fucking rough

You can keep your ESA

I'm playing Axiom Verge

>Rain World same day as Snake Pass
Fug.

>huh is this like a rainbow che-

>google Snake Pass

Ohhh, cute snek

i hope you enjoyed the eyefull

Neat, the town clock shows the current time of the events in the game.
