Naw, removed the AFM, re-tune of engine and exhaust upgrade. No beep, but sometimes get a 'shift denied' message on the dash if the engine thinks I'm trying to shift too early (both up and down).

Hey lads I'm planning a trip to the alps. How icy and snowy do the roads get? Will I have to deal with any salt up there?

No salt, but it does get icy. Depending on when you go, you'll have to take chains for your wheels.
The great Alpine road is a great drive though, just remember that the recommended speeds are serious, so follow them unless you know the road well.

I'll go nice and slow on the roads. Obviously not grandpa level but I'm aware that ice can be really slippery.

When do you want to go? I'm from Bairnsdale, so I can tell you a few food places.
If you're going up to Hotham you can grab chains in Omeo. Talk to the guys at the shop and they'll tell you all you need to know.
You don't have to worry about ice until you get above about 700m, so don't stress.

The closer you get to the ice the more you'll see chains for sale. I drove there once and only bought chains when I needed them because I didn't realize I needed them.
It's a great drive, it really gave me a sense of adventure with driving I hadn't experienced for a long time. I'm hoping Tasmania will give me that same feeling when I visit there.

Probably not for another month at least, gotta book a hotel, budget for fuel and all that. I just plan on going up there with the gf and maybe doing some skiing and snowball throwing. She's never seen snow before so I figure it would be pretty neat.

I did the drive through TAS. It was great, most of the roads are 110 and there's some great exploring to do. Spirit of Tasmania is shit though, make sure you get a cabin and do the overnight trip. You'll get bored of being on the boat in an hour.

Make sure to do some research. No joke, it's cheaper to fly to Japan and ski there for a week than it is to ski at Hotham for a week.
