yeah I've tried a few force trainers and their spells mostly seem like sortof bad offense that requires annoying Improve Force to have any respectable front-loaded damage, but doing so uses basically all of your mana.
The early levitation spell is nice at least for accessing some dungeons

Very indirectly it will lower it, it's not worth worrying about if you are already using shields or worth not using a buckler while you are using a 1H sword.
Shielding occurs before dodges, so it will mess with riposting.
Yes but SH lowers their total chance to activate over time as you block more attacks during combat so I think using shields with the goal of minimizing "initial" physical damage in case your EV doesn't work is still very relevant. The way SH affects riposte could be illustrated with an inverse exponential graph in which as more turns pass, the lesser its impact. Riposte has 33% chance to activate along with the chance of EV to work so SH's average influence for riposte to not work would even be lower than this

I wouldn't know about SH but dodge and riposte are basically the same being limitless; riposte just has twice lower chance than plain dodging to activate.

you get a penalty to SH for each block beyond the first, and IIRC you can only riposte each monster once per turn (before that change people were hilariously octuple-riposting hydras to death)

Here's the dump. Not gonna submit it to ladder since I don't wanna mess up PCB's ladder. You have really little control over the dumps, which is kinda annoying.
Yeah. If I wanted to make it faster, I'd probably have to just boost player to 50, give him some ok starting gear and let him go down from 90 ironman-style.
Getting guarantee on hammer is good, but too bad Hephaestus is kinda poop by himself.
The two feats can make up a lot, though.

If I had been asked before these changes were made, maybe I would've felt compelled to remain in the conversation, but at the moment I don't feel like I can keep up, especially when I'm asleep through most of the live discussion.

also you really do learn spells by eating the ragebooks rather than reading them -- they're used up and destroyed after you learn a single spell, so you eventually need to find 8 copies of book 3 & 4 if you want to learn everything
