Life is Strange is an episodic interactive drama from DONTNOD Entertainment. Set in the Pacific Northwest in the town of Arcadia Bay, the player follows the story of Maxine Caulfield and her seemingly newfound ability to turn hella gay and rewind time. At the prestigious Blackwell Academy, Max must prepare with Chloe Price for the incoming storm of returning to her hometown after five years. Available on Steam, PSN and Xbox Live.
Before Episode 5's release: >Lol Mari's theories're shitty. It's way more than shitty to become true >Chloe has to die thing doesn't make sense.Don't worry they will come with unpredictable story >We're gonna learn everything about Max's powers,Rachel and Prescotts even Nathan, spirit animals.. >Jefferson knows about Max's powers >Nathan,Frank,David or Samuel's gonna save us >Victoria's with Max,she'll save her >(After seeing Cemetery scene from leaks) I'm sure it'll be Williams,Rachel's or Kate's grave. >Rachel's the doe and Butterfly and probably we'll see her in Max's dream >Blue Jay's Chloe
As Max and Chloe are leaving the ruins of Arcadia Bay behind, there's one more tragic story unfolding >Alice and Lisa stuck in Max's room, Alice hasn't eaten anything in days, the dorms are destroyed and no one comes looking for them >"No one's gonna come save us, this is the end, we'll starve to death..." >Alice...you can survive this and go back to your owner. All you have to do is... all you have to do is eat me." >"What? No, fuck that. Lisa, you're my number one priority, I'm not eating you!" >"Alice, think about it... how many times this week did you try to nibble my leafs? I'm a plant, Alice, you're a bunny, maybe it's time I accept my destiny... OUR destiny." >"Lisa, I can't make this choice!" >"No Alice, you're the only one who can"
I actually really like that idea, if they ever got a cat it could be Maggie.
That name's way too important. If they ever had a son they'd name him that.

That's a strange way of spelling Kate.

And she never even got it... But there's always other times. I wonder what the first picture she would take after the storm would be. Would she be nervous about using a camera? Or would she immediately pick it up to get comfortable again?
Owen Torres
I want to listen to Kate play the violin!

Max is objectively the best girl.

>woman
Jaxson Martinez
Best woman is Joyce, obviously.
John Nguyen
Just saying something is objective doesn't really make it so.
Grayson King
Max is a young woman.

Max is barely a girl.

Joyce is pretty great. Would have been neat to see her during a flashback as well. It's clear Chloe and William were closer but I also get the impression Chloe and Joyce had a nice relationship in the past.
Thankfully it's sure to get better for them (and for David) after the storm. Being able to apologize to each other and work to be more understanding/ less antagonistic.

Yes, she's eighteen, so she's a young woman.
She's far past a girl.

Then is she a girl, or woman, or both, or neither, what exactly is "Max", is it even a "she", is it even "it"

Why were both the endings to this game fucking terrible? They both erased all choices, since in 1, you go back in time to before you save Chloe, erasing all that has happened. 2. you let Arcadia bay get whipped out, everyone you knew dies, and therefore all your choices are erased because there no one alive.
Also, why didn't Chloe cry for her mom? She got fucking killed in a tornado and all they do is quietly drive away. Fuck the ending man.

>Also, why didn't Chloe cry for her mom? She got fucking killed in a tornado and all they do is quietly drive away. Fuck the ending man.
It's been several days after the tornado, judging by the bodies covered up by relief blankets and the roads cleared of debris. It's not even clear who lived and who died, since the Two Whales is still standing with windows intact.
Aiden Diaz
No, a woman. That's an adult age, dumbass.
Parker Ross
U can't even buy booze before 21 in USA.
Dominic Jenkins
>can drive when 15 >but can't drunk drive until 21 US please
Carter Mitchell
Wrong. A mere storm can't kill a strong woman like Joyce.
David Allen
>It's been several days after the tornado I've been thinking this more and more. If anything the bodies had recently been recovered and are awaiting transport. There's no floods, no fires, no debris blocking off the roads. In doubt it was immediately after the storm. By that point Max and Chloe both knew Joyce, David, and most of their friends were alive.
Jaxon Morris
A huge piece of mangled metal through the roof or window can though.
>The megavolcano erupting underneath Arcadia Bay, because Chloe is still alive Michel, please. Max, nor Chloe, had anything to do with the storm.

But she did get a lot of other great shots of her!
And there will be many more. Since the camera is so tied to her person, I don't think it'll take too long a while before she's in a mood again where inspiration overcomes her. I don't think Jefferson made her question her art; she clearly rejected him artistically, and had no illusions about the nature of his actions. I don't think she'd be hung up on his type of work, artistically, ethically or otherwise. She knows she is not that and will never be that, and that art is not that and that that is not art.
If not inadvertently by being overcome with an urge or inspiration to take any, or naturally as a coping mechanism to, as you say, find a little ritualistic comfort in, at latest she'll take photos out of a want to keep art and its beauty alive precisely in the face of the disaster, and the face of the ugly things she'd seen and experienced being done in the name of art. To cleanse it and the world in a sense, by holding on to the beauty and benevolence in both, art and world.
And it will most likely be when she sees Chloe in some situation that it overcomes her - maybe similar to just that first photo she never got to take. Where it takes her breath away, and she feels all over again how glad she is, how right it is, how they belong. Since she finds the greatest comfort in Chloe, they in each other on most of all levels, and since she finds that beauty and benevolence in her, since she represents all of that for Max as the person she's found the strength and reason in to persevere, the light, the love - since she's all that was good and right with Max's strange world through that week, she'd be the predestined subject for her photos in that recovery phase. So I could totally see her first photo be one she snuck in from Chloe's side while the latter's driving, a slight smile gracing her face. And from there an entire set, documenting her smiles growing ever more content, and wide.
Alexander Adams
After they passed the leaving Arcadia Bay sign, lava will erupt from the ground. The road will split open as the explosion rips through the asphalt toward Chloe's truck. Without the photo to jump back to, both Max and Chloe will die.
How...tragic.

There's a fan fiction about Max and Chloe driving around the country post-Bae where Max has a had time taking photos in her post-Dark Room depression.

Makes sense. Maybe for a few days after she wouldn't pick up her camera, but one day when they're in Seattle she sees a shot of Chloe she cannot resist and takes it. Her hands shaking for a few seconds before she steels herself and gets the picture. Immediately driving any thoughts of *him* out of her mind.
If Max will ever use her powers again is another matter entirely (I think she would if needed. Without fear of any kind of disaster happening). But taking photos also gives her more "save points" to where she can go back if something really bad happens and needs to be fixed. Hopefully not. I like to think Max and Chloe are done with that kind of trouble. They can just live their lives normally and if Max wants to rewind something inconvenient or to play around a little then she can.
Christopher Murphy
>driving any thoughts of *him* out of her mind. ...She has Chloe for that.

But honestly, ranking episodes in a sense of story cutouts is kind of weird, seeing as how it is still very much a narrative whole where a lot works in tandem, cross-episodically. Which is all the more obvious in replaying the game, where with many of the scenes you get more of a sense of and view for that quality of their being-woven-into the grander narrative context than you could have had the first time around, where at most you could eventually retrospectively appreciate them in that context, which is obviously rather different. Episode 1 did a lot for me initially, and it did also benefit plenty from restrospection, but I never would have loved it quite like I do now, had I not replayed the game. Same goes for a number of more scenes.

I've read that. It's pretty good too.
Still undecided on what I'd prefer with regards to her powers, whether she'd still have them or not. Both works for me, really.
Although I do think that, regardless, she'd actively look to not use them. For a variety of reasons. Except for emergencies, for which I however agree and would also like to think there will be none of that their combined non-supernatural strengths couldn't handle.
I see no artistic value in it, personally.
But of course, it is not impossible to see any in it. That's the fickle nature of "art" altogether.

That's supposed to be Max speaking about Jefferson. Chloe helping her create a mantra to say whenever she starts feeling scared.
