This isn't necessarily something you need to do for WAN play, it just makes it better in case of high latency connections. It's a nice to have, like matchmaking and such. Not a requirement of online multiplayer.

Why is it in every DCS wishlist thread every monster truck enthusiast retard wants the most modern plane? Air combat reached a sweet spot in the cold war where it had interesting advancements but limitations that kept it interesting and make for more fun gameplay.
