I think even in the newest game, Mario Tennis Ultra Smash, they took out unique Character special shots for that dumb Mega Mushroom gimmick

Yeah you aren't wrong, but another thing is that the Sonic general had a ton of stuff happen to get them that much traction. I think "The Ride" was them and the archie comic illustrator going through all comics start to finish. Which picked up alot of Sonic fans to their board.

I haven't a clue how we'll pick up the plumber fans...this series consistency is solid. And not many fans have seen many Mario comics.

But yeah in all honesty we're still starting out..this 1st thread had like 25+ people so that was pretty good.

I'd say in another 3-4 years we'll get something. Sakurai isn't working on the game anymore, so no more influx of Fire Emblem characters.

Dumb question, but what genuinely new enemies were introduced in the last 5 years that stuck around? I imagine a lot more than I think. Whenever new Mario games come out, the spinoffs latch onto new characters.

One thing that I like about Mario is there really isn't any pattern to their enemies, if they need an enemy to do something for a level or a game, they'll invent it wholecloth to fit that niche perfectly.

And then later, they may or may not become staples, far removed from their origin. It creates this weird world full of nonsense charm.

Like, you can see this guy was to be like Thwomp but not, so they did exactly that.

Shit like Swoopers exist because they needed something that Swooped. Why is there a football guy on Dinosaur Island or whatever? Well, so you have an enemy that doesn't die to one jump and kind of knocks you around. Duh. So, there ya go, Chargin' Chuck.

I think the Super Mario All Star's one is a great place to start.

I personally don't like the artstyle or OST of the Super Mario All-Stars versions of the games and go with the NES version on the Wii Virtual Console, but you can probably just play any version you want. Don't take world warp pipes faggot, just collect 1-ups and power through the levels and it's not bad.

I totally feel ya man. Noticed the charm in the main games alot. Spinoffs...not as much lately but it still has its moments.

I'm gonna have to git gud. It is so sad, but I was always trash at the original.

Why is Mario Sports Superstars so sterile? Even Golf's worse than World Tour, which is already on the 3DS to begin with.

Does anyone know if MSS has region locked online with friends?

Not sure, but I downloaded a European .cia since that's the only version that's out for now. Game wouldn't let me go online, since it constantly asked for me to agree with the online terms of service, even though I already accepted.
The same thing would happen if I were to download the American or European version of Golf World Tour instead of the Japanese one, but that game's region free. So it could be possible that Sports Superstars is also region free.

Alright let me ask a question that I have been seriously thinking about for the past couple days. I have Mario Kart 8 already for Wii U. I have not purchased any of the DLC. Should I sell it and use the money to pay for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, or should I just wait for Mario Kart 9?

Well, Mk8 hype died long ago, and Mario Kart 9 aint happening anytime soon due to dlc (like Smash in a way with Smash 5)
So yeah you should go for deluxe, high chances of everyone in this thread playing it with each other.
But I'm pretty sure Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is only for the Switch though, so you should research that before you make your choice.

I'm going to get the Switch very soon, so that isn't an issue for me. I suppose you are right in saying Mario Kart 9 is not coming for a while. I'll just sell MK8 and buy Deluxe then. Thank you for helping me decide user!
