Why does the AE86 get so much hate?

I don't get it, the car is worth what people are willing to pay for, the talk of it being overpriced is seriously blown out of proportion. I think people forget how old these things are and how they've been used as the car to rape for the past 30 years. I think people also forgot that the Ford Escort MK2 is very similar to the AE86, in terms of it's popularity and increasing price overtime yet I see no hate for it.

Shut the fuck up retard

>average price of 15k for a jap rustbucket
>normal

Because of the weebs who like it because of LE DAGUMMI XDDDDD

Because it's a shitty car

>Putting loads of power on a car known to not take much power

>Suprised when things blow up.

Don't try and justify the shitty 4AGE engine

Because it was a cool little car and was a great starting point for grassroots motorsport, but since Initial D its been raised upon a pedestal like it was some gift from the gods since it never lost, when in fact dagoomy was the main reason for winning and the car was shit.

I still like the car, but this seems to be a counter action to all of the fanbois.

He's nor justifying it, it's just if you're driving a car that clearly can just barely handle the power your giving it and it keeps blowing up, then the owner may in fact be part of that problem.

In what way is the 4A-GE engine shit? It's one of the most reliable engines, they're not made to take serious amounts of power. This dumbass didn't get the hint after blowing multiple engines, the jokes on him.

It's just a normal toyota that just happened to appear in a popular chinese cartoon.

because its a good car with awesome culture surrounding it, so a lot of people hate it (especially anti-weebs)

it was featured in initial d for a reason

Because it was a cheap PoS that anyone could afford?

Because it was a fun, old, cheap-ish, common car in the early 90s?
I'm a big fan of the anime, but the car is just barely above average. People think it's so amazing and god-like since they've never actually driven it.
The same goes for DeLorean and other uncommon cars in the west.
Only thing that most people know about those cars, is based on the media that they've seen them in.

>Because it was a fun, old, cheap-ish, common car in the early 90s?
yes. thats why it was the silvia before the silvia became cheap.

___e7___ corollas are pretty much the same car but cost much less because they weren't the lead car in an Anime.

The appeal of the ae86 goes away completely when it's priced the way it is.

The whole thing with the AE86 is it was just some cheap car people used to drift back in the day. RWD, even weight distribution, cheap. It's the cheap first fun car would you get.

Now all it's value is tied to initial d... you are paying for the culture around it now, not the car itself. If you're cool with that, great, but it's a joke to pretend the car itself is worth that much without that sort of legacy behind it.

These cars were worth like 1k back in 2005ish and I begged dad to get let me get one before they go up in value too much but he wouldn't listen and said I couldn't get a car until I was old enough to get a license.

Uh, the KE70 is no way in shape in form like the AE86. The E70's didn't have the 4A-GE. It's only now that KE70's have become dirt cheap that people engine swap them and drift them.

This totally happened, unless the car was a total bomb and in terrible condition, AE86's never became that cheap, maybe the AE85's with the 4A-C motor, but not a GT-S with a 4A-GE.

>AE85's with the 4A-C
stop this meme
ae85 was japan only and had a 3ac

"a North American spec AE86 SR5 was made featuring a 4A-C engine, but with a SOHC"

Straight from wiki

ke70's had the 4A engine which was the predecessor of the 4AGE. Its also a really good car for entry level car modification

Because the price defeats the purpose of the car
A used 350z is cheaper nowadays

Engine, coilovers, axles, diffs, sway bars can from ae86 all fits into E70's.

They are parasitically the same.

ae71 had he 4A engine.

The first letter of toyotas vin indicates the engine it came with.

The A in AE86 means 4A

The K in ke70 means it had a 4K engine.

The A in ae71 means means it had a 4A.

I hope I explained that well.

Other examples are MA70 supras have an M in front because they came with M series engines.

JZA80 supras have a JZ in front of their vin because they came with 2JZ engines.

how do you blow a 4A? you'd have to be a mental defect to blow more than one or two of them

The retard is obviously adding excess power, more than what the actual engine can handle, he seriously didn't get the hint after the 2nd engine blew?

yeah after the second i'd start thinking maybe it wasnt the engine that was at fault but the driver

Engines blow up if you push them hard you retard.

It's a part of motorsport.

>push 5 engines to the point where they blow up
>thats the way it goes dude shit engine!!!

That is not a true 85

I thought toyotas were reliable wtf

because it's a fucking corolla hyped up to be a god machine that takes a dump on any sportscar.
is it a good corolla? yeah, it's a good corolla. but it's still a fucking corolla.

But le dagumi revved to 1,000,000 RPM in my cartoon :(

>god machine that takes a dump on any sportscar.
basically

no, engines blow up if you push them TOO hard.

t. Honda F1 Team

>Blown 6 transmissions and 5 engines

>"Muh shit toyota engine, it's not the driver at all"

>featuring a 4A-C engine, but with a SOHC
what did he mean by this

>youtube poster telling an elaborate tale to validate an unwarranted opinion
lol
It happens, but that poster is full of shit.

Well they're actually not, but if you keep turning up the power in anything without supporting mods to the drive train, it will start blowing things up.

Which is what you do when racing.

You don't push the engine just a little bit and not redline it so it won't get damaged.

Literally inexcusable, $30 grand for a shitbox that has 280k km on it?

whats up pussy ass nigga

>australia
everything is overpriced here m8. someone's trying to sell a starion, albeit in fucking mint condition, for 50k.

>I know what I got, no lowballers
