/evn/ - English Visual Novels

This thread is for the discussion of original English visual novels, as well as western visual novel development.

Do you have a question about a Japanese visual novel or a translation of it? /vn/ is ready to answer it. We are not them.

2017 has been an interesting year for evn so far.

-Ladykiller in a Bind hit Steam.

-Razz released Love Ribbon.

-We've already gotten 2 Sakura games this year, Agent and Magical Girls.

-Herald hit Steam. It has voice work from critic Jim Sterling.

-AJ Tilley has released at least 2 Bounce games.

-Lupiesoft is receiving development funds from Nutaku to create a monster girl ero game. It's called Mutiny.

I almost forgot that we also got some sequels.

Otome VN Always Remember Me's sequel Never Forget Me came out in January.

Unhack 2 came out in January as well.

Rising Angels: Reborn got a sequel last month when Rising Angels: Allegiance came out. This one's not on Steam, so here's its itch.io link.

idhas.itch.io/rising-angels-fates-allegiance

The Rising Angels: Fates kickstarter might get refunded due to development issues, which can be read about here. kickstarter.com/projects/chief/rising-angels-fates-visual-novel/posts/1815117

>Well, we lost our CG artists midway through last year and have had a drastically hard time finding someone to replace them and the writing is progressing at a painful crawl compared to Allegiance. We've been maintaining optimism, but things haven't been very optimistic on that front, hence the drastic slowdown of updates. We're determining our next course of action regarding the future of Fates Apostate and hope you enjoy Fates Allegiance while we work out a plan to either get Apostate out or refunds out to backers.

Has Nutaku effected evn development at all with them giving out dev funds? Doesn't seem like there have been many takers.

>tfw viewports

I will never understand HOW this shit works but whatever, at least it works.

monster girl gamu is a great english visual novel!

tfw you made an episodic vn that people don't realize is episodic. Good luck getting people to come back for part 2+.

What was your favorite evn from 2016? Mine ended up being the Sunrider Academy copy, Ace Academy.

It's free and partnered with Sekai. They'll have no problem.

I heard that they could start charging for the later chapters to help cover development costs. And Sekai doesn't usually cover all those costs. It's why they help promote kickstarters.

One of Winged Cloud's upcoming projects is called Sakura Gamer. This will be great.

It looks like once devs get a few releases under their belt they've been going solo without a publisher. Winged Cloud, Razz, and Lupiesoft have all done this in the past few months.

Going by reviews, Sakura Magical Girls wasn't very well received even by WC's usual buyers. Steamspy's also showing that the series sales have finally fell to normal vn release levels. They're mostly supported on patreon now.

Happy Campers VN comes out next month and has a choosable gender protag. It's from the creator of Starlight Vega and Love Ribbon.

Looks like Quest Failed and Crystal City are doing good on Nutaku. Stargazers is on there now too. Highway Blossoms doesn't seem to have done too well though.

nutaku.net/games/download/ranking/

More like they realized "publishers" are scams.

>Stargazers
>771.5MB

My MangaGamer copy is 522MB. Where the heck is that extra 250MB coming from?

>churn out crap every month
>still get ~3000 sales
>"mostly supported on patreon now"

uh

Living the dream.

Back from the grave, huh?

Yes, now post progress.

I've heard things have been going pretty well for your project lately.

I'm actually surprised that JP didn't like Lucid9. It was pretty generic, but I didn't think it was that bad.

>now post progress.
All I have is old progress since I'm still waiting on KS funds to process, but okay.

Officeryou a cuckaroo

Hello Discord Server I see you

...

...

Lets bring back the classics.

Hi JP.

...

Hi Tao.

How's Dizzy Hearts doing?

Hi Chris.

They're working on Mutiny now.
>Mutiny!! is set in a world of fantasy, both sexual and adventurous. A realm where airships can sail among the clouds as well as the sea, and they even enter the flogiston to journey to other realms. There’s treasure spread out over many these realms if you’re brave or curious enough to find it. At the bottom of the sea or within mysterious ruins, protected by curious animated guardians. The world of Mutiny!! is in every way ‘fun’, silly and sexy as you imagine!

>Mutiny!! features HD erotic scenes and illustrations. The erotic content of Mutiny!! focuses on fetish themes such as: Monster girls, Futanari, and Size difference. Stay tuned to find out more!

lupiesoft.com/games/mutiny/story/

Sounds like good fetish porn.

>tao
>good fetish porn

>working

You mean you don't want a piece of this?

Hardly working, amirite?

Where is that Taosym podcast in the discord?

I don't want a piece of anything that Tao does.
His work ethic is beyond abysmal, why would you want to support what will be a lazy, rushed and filled with bugs and errors even though its fucking renpy release?

it's coming out later this week mate

I think this release will be a good gauge of how much of Lupiesoft's projects issues were due to lack of budget vs. lack of effort. With Nutaku paying dev costs for Mutiny it'll be much easier to see where issues are dev side.

The issues lie with Tao being a lazy piece of shit.
See: Dizzy hearts never, is willing to start and work on any new project but the one that launched his crappy career in the first place.

>Hello everyone, this is as much sharing a picture as it is talking about what we've been up to.

>I cannot say much yet, but Lupiesoft and me have been hard at work on Dizzy Hearts. But coming early Spring we have another project coming out. Due to the success of Stargazers, we've garnered investor support into one of our backburner projects. Mutiny!! to be exact.

>Ordinarily we've been funding projects ourselves, spending 3k~5k up to 8k out of pocket. This funding is a gigantic leap to the company and ensures that future titles like Dizzy Hearts will recieve even more funding from investors like Nutaku to realize niche erotic games like what we create.

>I cannot tell you that much right now, but I can tell you that Mutiny!! will be coming very soon, but you will see gameplay demos here on Patreon first. Yes that's right, Mutiny!! will be our first game to feature gameplay, mechanics, puzzles and more.

>It's an incredibly exciting time for us and me as an artist, so that can focus on commissions, focus on game art, and writing without worrying about where food is coming from, and if Lupiesoft can even survive to release the projects we make due to our spotty self-funding.

>What you'll see in the coming days, weeks, months. Is a LOT of art for both Mutiny!! and Dizzy Hearts, some PG13, some Adult.

>I'm ridiculously stoked, and I hope everyone is too for the coming burst of activity starting in January.

Kind of sounds like the Nutaku money helped push their current project front and center.

Why so mad

Where did Tao hurt you?

I hate futa and lazy devs.

Post progress you cucks

>success of Stargazers
i dunno

Apparently exogenesis does most of its updates on facebook. Progress was slow awhile ago because the programmer got sick.

Backers seem to really be losing their patience with this one.

>How come you got time to be looking at other sites but not time to post an update in over a year???? WHERE IS MY FUCKING GAME BITCH!

Backers sure are entitled to expect the VN to release on schedule and expect updates.

Since we're talking about slow devs: kickstarter.com/projects/gorshatastic/but-i-love-you-a-horrific-take-on-dating-sims

This dev has literally cut all contact for almost a year now. No updates, locked their twitter, not active on facebook.

Imagine the nerve, wanting to know if something you paid money for is actually happening!

>-Over 400,000 words total across all the routes so far, with none of them having been completed yet. We’re still estimating around another quarter of a million words before it’s all said and done.

>-45 completed CG’s, with a lot more to go. About a quarter of the CG’s in the game will be by Rosuuri, with Katz doing the rest.

I can't help but feel that Human Reignition Project's scale is going to eventually tank it.

Kickstarting is a donation. Expect nothing and hope for the best.

That said, it's been a year and Starlight Vega's physical rewards have never been sent out either. And no updates about that since last July.

>around another quarter of a million words before it’s all said and done.

The editor is going to die

I was reposting a comment from the exogenesis facebook page.

Eh the scope was maybe a mistake but we're still doing fine. Most of our delays have been personal issues and stuff (family losses, new jobs, etc) rather than an actual problem with the scope. And we have multiple editors so hopefully they won't all die.

Did Monstrous Lovers dev quit? No update on dev blog since last August.

The main issue is that artists have the tendency to suddenly disappear. That's what helped stop Rising Angels: Fates in its tracks too.

True, but we're pretty happy with our artists thus far. They've honestly been the most consistently productive members of the team

Have any new evn projects been announced recently?

I saw this too. I wonder if something happened- they were so far along development it seems weird they just dropped off the face of the earth.

It's odd because they mentioned a major update that was supposed to come out a week after their final post but never did.

>And yet they are still selling keys for this game on their website. I guess they don't understand that KS lets them take money and never deliver, but the world at large has very different rules in that regard.

>For those of you who want to get in touch with her through other social platforms, there are a number of results here: google.com/#q=Mel Gorsha

>I don't use social networks (apart from LinkedIn), so this is not an avenue for me. But it might be useful to let others who might back or hire her know what they are getting into. She has another game - novellagaming.com/geed/ - which she solicited funds for through GoFundMe. Also never completed or delivered.

>It appears that "Mel Gorsha" is the stage name for Melissa Korkuc, who is the project creator here and elsewhere. So you may have luck with that name as well.

>It's one thing to promise and not deliver on your first effort. It's quite another thing to do so in serial fashion.

I know they were working on another BL game because the stuff from ML was almost finished. i hope nothing bad happened to them

Seiyuu Danshi team hopes to have it out by the end of the year.

I was wondering what happened to them too.

I honestly don't know how QF is still ranking so high. But the momentum has been encouraging to see and has helped with the second part's development

have some lewd progress as I finally attempt to hold onto an artist for longer than a month without being ditched ;_;

Their latest lemmasoft login was today, so they just seem to be ignoring their project responsibilities.

...

are you... alright?

...

...

Don't fucking die.
