What was the best Battle of WW2?

What was the best Battle of WW2?

Stalingrad.

History will probably remember Stalingrad or the Normandy Invasions the longest.

One because of it's impact and the other because of it's well the largest invasion of all time in a war where beach landings had been one disaster after the next.

If I could Holodeck only one it would probably be Kursk.

English invasion of Iceland.

Meme-wise?

Battle of Castle Itter?

In the west, Aachen and Hurtgen.

>in a war where beach landings had been one disaster after the next.
??? most naval landings in ww2 went pretty well, e.g. most of the pacific landings (on both sides actually) as well as the ETO landings
even the d-day landings were relatively smooth with the exception of one beach

>best
I don't know, which had the most captured soldiers and hardware with the least casualties on either side?

>best Battle of WW2
define Battle

Moscow

Pearl Harbor
Market Garden

Hürtgenwald desu
Nothing like ww2 battles in dense vegetation where infantry rules

Meh, I would probably put the Battle of Moscow in the immense scale tier. The German Army was halted, yes, but 1942 was a year that it easily could still have gone the Germans way. If they hadn't fucked up in getting bogged down in Stalingrad, it's likely they would have attacked Moscow anyway in 1943. 1942 imo was the last year that the way could easily have gone either way without too much speculation.

I would either bring the Normandy Landings up, or put in OP Bagration instead of Moscow, as those were both operations that literally confirmed the Allied victory in europe.

The Battle of Britain is worth mentioning. Probably history's definitive Air conflict. It won't get better than that.

>This decided the war tier
>No Battle of Britain

You have to admit that the Germans had an incredibly overwhelming victory at Treblinka.

My favorite are probably

>java sea
For that night battle scenery

>midway
Because the god damn japs got wiped out so bad due to their immense arrogance and incompetence

>berlin
The apocalyptic tales from it

At a guess, Dragoon?

>in a war where beach landings had been one disaster after the next.
There was like one failed beach landing that was Dieppe, which wasn't meant to succeed.

Not him, but both Tarawa and Wake (that is, when the Japanese attacked) were pretty ugly messes, even if they were ultimately successful.

I'd knock Iwo Jima down a tier and bump up Guadalcanal.

The whole Guadalcanal campaign chewed up Japan's naval and air forces. That was pretty much where the rest of their veteran pilots died and the majority of their destroyers were sunk.

>operation Bagration is nowhere on the list
Literally the best thing Red Army ever did.

The battle of Kharkov

Stalingrad was top tier battle and you should read Anthony Beevor's book called Stalingrad, man that battle was some tight shiz-niz i tell you what.
>NKVD stationing special battalions behind their own lines to shoot deserters
>Russian divisions (yes entire divisions) being reduced to 25% strength in one day only to be ordered back into the fight
>Luftwaffe reigning supreme
>Shitstorm (storming attempts) in the tractor factory, participants unanimously agree that hell on earth status has been achieved
>Snipers taking scalps left and right
>Germans pushing so far towards the Volga that their machinegunners can strafe the russian landing spots

>Midway
US would've crushed Japan anyway

Infantry battle: Monte Casino
Tanks battle:Kursk
Siege:Stalingrad
Air:Battle of Britain

I think operation battleaxe might fit that bill. The British would've captured a lot of Italian soldiers and equipment in the North African campaign. Also some battle on the eastern front could be another contender in that regard.

Do you mean Compass? Battleaxe was an abortive tank attack presaging Crusader. If anything, it's the reverse, relatively few people died, but you had a LOT of equipment loss.

Yeah. I got the British operations mixed up. I just said battle axe since the name kind of sticks out.

This.
Italian Army, of all people, teaching the British how to do that "charge Russian cannons with lighht cavalry" thing RIGHT.

Normandy was a nothing in comparison to most battles on the Eastern Front.

>this decided the war-tier
>no Battle of El Alamein
>no Battle of the Atlantic

>El Alamein
>deciding anything

Without El Almein there would be no Stalingrad. If you agree Stalingrad is an important battle, which it is, then you must also agree the same with El Almein.

>without t El Almein there would be no Stalingrad.

WHAT haha

>Without El Almein there would be no Stalingrad
Are... are you retarded?

Are you trolling or just genuine stupid?
