i'd rather they ditch open world entirely because i'm not convinced they'll ever be good at it. but i do strongly agree with you about going back to a silent protagonist. i think that'd be the best from a role playing perspective.

that'd be skipping too much stuff they could use for a game, though. 50 years from now whatever the fuck Solas is doing would or should hopefully be over one way or the other, and the mage-templar conflict will have settled down (though i guess it could flare up AGAIN if they wanted it to, but that'd be annoying). i really don't want a 50 year timeskip just to read in the codex how things played out, or to hear history from NPCs through investigate options. i want to PLAY it.
