By discussing crime, we learn what methods criminal use. We can learn how to protect ourselves better by decreasing the effectiveness of those methods. My local police are starting to field drones for surveillance.

Helicopters are for high-speed auto chases. But for cases where someone has gone to ground hiding, and a copter is not available, the drone can be used even at night to spot someone hiding. As expected, certain neighborhoods were totally against it while the affluent areas were for it.

Don't wear a hoodie and cap with sunglasses into a bank. It's not illegal, but certainly, many of the movable security cameras will focus onto the face as the security staff looks at any anomaly.

My bank recently had a major remodel of its HQ and along with that came other infrastructure changes. They use recognition software, so everyone that enters the premises automatically has a computer trying to identify them to a database. If it cannot get a full match due to hoodie, cap, sunglasses, the outline is colored. If the person does business and doesn't have a full match, he or she will be asked by the teller to provide some biometric (fingerprint) identification on the scanning pad. That can be asked even though you show a gov't ID such as DL. It is allowed by law (thank you Obama). You can refuse to provide identification (that is legal), but at that point, your transaction will not proceed with the bank (also legal). I can only assume that the bank will flag you in their database as a person of interest from now on.
