Looking for a torquey (not necessarily top-speed fast) car with RWD and that boxy look with pop-up headlights. Cheap is helpful, too.

Can't find anything that immediately appeals to me off there, and did some further research on similar models. I really like the Corolla AE86, but it's so damn expensive near me. Also not sure about its torqueyness.

Yeah and the SVX is auto only so keep that in mind.
I like them my self, as a novelty but they're auto only and not the fastest thing around, but they are neat if they're in good shape.

If you're really that set on the popups it's really either a turbo mr2 or a 180sx. S12s just aren't that great cars and putting a decent engine in one is a bit of a process (especially with legality in some states)
sorry and an old supra, if you want a good engine in one you'll probably have legality issues there too though.
