All the effects take (x) turns to take place.

So like play a follower, attack with them, no damage is done, then the next turn the damage hits regardless if they're still on the field.

They're expanding on heavy firepower a little more with the commander cannon amulet, but I get where you're coming from. They do lack airships and likes.
