You don't have any good options really. If you're working in SF I'd look at apartments in Inner Richmond, Sunset, or Ingleside. Commuting from the East Bay is a nightmare, you are better off looking further down the peninsula.

Oakland is a terrible city imo because of the demographics. South San Francsico, Pacifica, or even San Mateo is a better place to live.
