Never played the smt before. I have a few questions for you guys to sell the game to me.
Are there social links/a friendship aspect to the story at all?
Is it really as hard as dark souls like I've heard, and how similar are the two games?
Also, I've been looking into Shin Megami Tensei IV, and the cover has an angel and a devil.
Should I play good or evil? Which one is stronger?

I heard that you can't even see your personas in battle, so that's a huge letdown.

The game's initially pretty rough, but clears up at around the 1/5 mark. It's a traditional turn based RPG, not an action one like Dark Souls.
Good is stronger, but only if you enter in the cheat codes that allow you to resurrect Aeris.

You do see your personas, but only still images on the bottom screen.

Is there a text dump of strange journey anywhere? I remember a demon telling the protagonist to keep reaching out to the truth at one point, and I'm not sure if I've imagined it.

I wouldn't recommend any SRPG if you just don't like the gameplay. I mean, they're usually very time consuming and if you don't like it...

If you don't like SRPGs, it's better if you don't play it, and if you want to just play a good story there are tons of games with better stories. Wasn't there an animation of it, anyway?

If you don't give a fuck about the story, then it's OK to skip it. But Apocalypse is a "what if" situation that takes place right before the Neutral ending of the game. It will spoil everything about SMTIV and it will expect you to know almost everything about SMTIV's story. However, if you don't want to go through SMTIV again and if you only care about gameplay, then I would go for it.

MegaTen 2 is not that good user. Aside from the godly MC design, the game just comes across as a shittier and more barebones version of SMT1.

Production value of this game was so shit, goddamit. I can't believe anybody can be interested in DEEP after that one trainwreck. You might as well just play EO if you love gameplay before atmosphere and plot, its much better and much more challenging than literally any SMT.
