I really want to like LW2 but there's just too many things that piss me off

>turn timers (not a big issue with True Conceal)
>infiltration time punishes you if you want to roll with a larger squad
>too much emphasis on stealth and not enough on blowing up ayys
>a solo shinobi trivializes 90% of missions
>having to stick a soldier in haven limbo to weed out faceless

I miss LW1 and the freedom the game gives instead of being railroaded into playing xcom: mgs edition

Well, xcg/ kind of truly revived around B10-B12 with only sporadic activity before that. And back then we also talked a lot more about Xenonauts, Marbozir and Open X-COM to spice things up a bit.

Maybe, once there is more about Phoenix Point and Xenonauts 2 things will take up. If the LW devs do decide to do more with the mod that will also help.

And there's always Jake announcing that fucking expansion already

I'm enjoying LW2 now after some tweaks but I'm unsure if I'll do another run. I just want to hear more about 1.3 that hopefully isn't just nerfs.

I love the stealth desu, but I agree that there's too much emphasis on it. There should be "takedown" missions without the infiltration mechanic that have a flat enemy strength based on reward given. The first mission lets you bring a full roster and you basically never do that again

The small toggle found on the back of the neck in carapace armor is to be used for medical emergencies only. Sabotaging the emergency quick release for pranks resulting in ‘wardrobe malfunctions’ is strongly discouraged. Strike Four suffered 84% casualties before they even got to the landing site

Confounding Light is up next on my LW1 Campaign, any tips for taking it on?

Bring smoke and high mobility soldiers. Lots of thin mints, mutons and floaters will be present. Snipers can make use of the long sighlines, I would bring one or two.

If I remember correctly to win the mission you don't have to eliminate all enemies, but it will be pretty hard to place the transponders and start the train with 20+ enemies on your tail.

Is camping viable? I basically did Zhang's escort mission that way.

Absolutely not, it is a timed mission.

Camping is a possible, and encouraged strategy for the next mission in the chain, Gangplank. Which will show up two days after confounding light is completed.

You can skip it at no costs other than the rewards conferred by the missions.

So you will miss out on the battleship raid and all the juiciness within. Gangplank is fuck you in the ass hard though.

2x fusion cores is nice though, you can sell one for 200 credits and keep the other for a blaster launcher.

All the DLC missions were ramped up a lot for LW since they're kinda easy in the base game. Confounding light and Gangplank are very difficult, but doable if you're experienced and have good men.

In your case I would do it, but I'm kind of a masochist. I always do the DLC because I like the special hero units you get from them.

I've already gotten Zhang so I feel pretty ok with skipping the rest of it. I'm gonna try and go through all of Progeny just for Anette and the furies when it shows up though

If you're playing Long War the aliens pool is determined by alien research, not the month.

The maps are random, reinforcements correlate with the region's force level, grenade maximum damage falls off from the center, graze band can be disabled and the last two are fixed by either not using nce, building the soldier in an unorthodox way in order to overcome their limitations or by installing commander's choice.

We really need an expansion.
