What gave you that impression?

The boob envy thing is more a symptom of her lack of confidence and low self-esteem. She seems to gradually get over it as she grows throughout the series, but she's apparently still sore enough about it for them to make dumb boob envy gags over and over. There's even a whole DLC story in SK2 dedicated to Mirai accepting that she's small and that's OK. I guess she realizes logically that it's not that bad and she still has her charms but is still kind of sensitive about it and fantasizes about being a mature-looking woman.

Anyway, I'm happy to answer questions to help out another Miraifag, but being a secondary is no good, so you really should play the games or, if you can't, at least watch Burst's cutscenes on Youtube. That's the most important story. There was also an anime series, but it's of the Hanzou story and doesn't focus on the Hebijo side of it with Mirai.

I honestly did not like the musou element to it. I love the spinoffs more.

It has issues with writing that people love to shitpost endlessly about and probably the best gameplay in the series. Probably the game to make the best attempt at being serious so far.

To be fair about the difficult part, one of the very first fights in the game in SK2 is your level 1 Ikaruga against Yomi, which is a pretty terrible matchup and really quite difficult. And there are like 4 mooks to grind on so you aren't going to be outleveling her unless you want to spend all night grinding to pass one fight.

After Yomi the difficulty is more reasonable and you can actually grind if you do have trouble

The difficulty wasn't high at all. It was Japanese players getting schooled by Yomi in one of the early chapters that had them all raging.

To understand what went wrong with SK2, you need to know some things.

After Burst and SV, Versus series was called the side story. SV sold like hotcakes due to various things, most notably Vita getting price cut just around then.

Then came SK2, continuing exactly from where Burst left off. It didn't sell. At all. Hell, you could buy CE of it for literally $20 like a week after release. Nips also complained about plethora of things, difficulty and having PLAYABLE MALE CHARACTER being the biggest ones. They even nerfed the second boss of the game.

What if there are multiple difficulty levels, but some scenes can only be accessed if you're on the highest difficulty?

Its just like PBS. To a veteran shooter you get 95% winrate. To senran fans who can't aim 30% winrate is considered impressive.

There's a bit of a divide because of the console gap, since the versus series is available on more platforms it draws more people in despite being a spinoff/sequel, while Burst and DC are 3DS exclusives and there are people who still refuse to buy a 3DS even after it became absolutely trivial to hack

Plus they're some of the oldest games, only have the original ten girls, and according to Takaki their storyline is complete with the only transplants being Kagura and Naraku

SK2 did sell. Problem was that Marvelous went full retarded and thought Versus' sales would be the norm for the series and overproduced the shit out of SK2

SK2 was released during Yumi hell and then it was followed up by people losing to the first boss of the game forcing them to leave terrible reviews on the Amazon page.
Marvelous took this as people not wanting the story of SK to continue so they just released Versus games to turn every character into nothing but a trope.

The real flaw of the game was no playable Kagura or Naraku, like an actually mistake that should have been addressed but instead they put them in a bad game.
