Anyone here familiar with Chevy engines...

Anyone here familiar with Chevy engines? Can the heads be identified or at least narrowed down without tearing the covers off?

Yes

seems reasonable

Always glad to help.

could be anything from a 305 to a 383.

Was told it's a 350 but cant reach the casting numbers. Also cant find any reference that matches up with the head casting marks.

What's it in? Is it original to the car? Is the vin plate readable? why aren't you asking a GM/Chevy board?

they are stock heads. whats this all about faget.

Yes, you can identify the heads by the casting marks in the pic.
Look at the "ledge" in front of the passenger's side head to find specifics. Should be something like this.

1971 C10
I tried to register on C10 forum but their signup is broken

Don't see a match?

Will see if I can find them...

The passenger side.

You're gonna have to get that rust off somehow. Just a finger with some fine grit sandpaper might work.
Can you not get your phone up behind the driver's side head to see the casting #?
It won't tell you specifics, but it can help.

that looks like O above.

Ok found some numbers.

Block code behind the driver's head is 3970010
Code in front of passenger head is V1205CNN

Made in Flint, Mi on December 5th 1970
350 Cuin w/ th350 trans.

Also approx. 250 HP from the factory with a 2 bbl carb

those are probably 882 heads

not worth messing with

Thank you!
