I mean, it's kind of a cruel slap in the face on top of everything else. Further dehumanizing 2B and the relationship that 9S had with her in favor of reminding him that they're just another pair of tools in a pointless war.

Welp, finally caught up on playthroughs of Drakengard 2.

I thought people were exaggerating, but Nowe's character arc was more of a mess than I expected it to be.

Caim and Angelus's role was actually pretty emotional though.

Well he kinda seems to have written himself into a corner with Automata, but then again it seemed a bit like that with NieR too.

I mean, usually he channels it into something interesting, but you'll still get stuff like this once in a while because he's ultimately still a big edgy kid.

The (true) ending of Automata is beautiful and I'd rather it be left alone. It's incredibly rare to get such a worthy sequel to a great game that I'd not count on it happening again. It's better to leave that saga closed outside of some small DLC maybe to expand on some elements already introduced rather than a whole new entry that could tarnish the conclusion I'm very content with personally.

I'd rather he worked on a whole new series and see what he comes up with.

Did you find out that you can cheat your way through the final rhythm game by repeatedly pausing it? I doubt I would have gotten through otherwise.

After Drakengard 3 no rhythm game will ever worry me.

I naively cling to the hope that we'll get some more answers to the unresolved questions regarding Accord, Angelus, and the Watchers in another game someday, but I'd be interested in seeing what kind of new series Taro could come up with.

it's literally the first thing I did after seeing the more complicated patterns
in fact the entire latter half of the game was about me finding the lamest way to cheese the missions because actually trying to play the game was greeting me with 80 arbalests stunlocking me to death or 500 quintillions infinite dodge enemy that throw homing shots taking each a quarter of your health
i'll be even honest and say the rhythm game wasn't even that bad all considering

Speaking of that bot, the record of that beast machine it had you kill was written in all caps, just like the animal-loving bot spoke. It claimed to not be aware of the beast bot, but I still find that kind of weird.
I'll have to go back and check, but I'm tempted to say he knew the bot, took a liking to real animals and abandoned the imitation.

Now I wonder if I'd be able to hack his door open when visiting as 9S if I hadn't killed him as A2.

You know, if Drakengard 2 skipped Nowe and primarily focused on Manah and Caim's stories, kind of reversing their roles from the first game as they both tried to deal with the demons from their pasts, than I think it could have been top tier.

Or at least more salvageable.

I was actually watching her dress after being in water when she did this. Took me by surprise and then I kept doing it just to see her reaction, earning the achievement. I felt kinda bad at that point. 2B 2cute

Personally, I think the mass majority of my dislike for the gameplay in Drakengard 1 comes from collecting weapons for unlocking the Ending E boss.

The rest of it is merely tedious and annoying, but going back to recycled stages, playing on higher difficulties on a time-limit, and sifting through guides to find the ridiculous requirements for unlocking every weapon was genuinely painful.
