Spoils of war and don't pump out too much cavalry. Basically as a horde you're going to want to chain wars in order to keep looting and demanding ducats. It's very easy to end up with like a 75% cav army though, which is extremely expensive and unsustainable. Try to mix in some more infantry.

modding isn't actually that hard since 99% of shit in mods is in textfiles. since your just fixing stuff instead of creating new shit, you could probably just copy paste a string of text similar to what you want and change a few words to get it to work.

You could easily copy the starting techs from Oranje to the other Boer states. That would be a very simple fix. If you are going to bother to do localisation text, please make it decent quality on par with the rest of the flavortext in that mod (which is actually pretty good!).
