I've heard that it's actually viable, mostly because the damage in tricked form scales directly with Arc over Str.

A huge problem actually is honoring DaS as the untouchable sacred cow. They won't hear a bad word against it, at any point in time. Since it was the first Souls game for people on PC, they'll patronize it beyond belief and claim the rest are shit. Look at the Capra Demon boss fight, if they tried that in DaS 2, people would riot. But since it was in DaS, it's all okay.
That isn't to say that DaS 2 and 3 are masterpieces, of course.

Now imagine the same thing was in DaS 2, but was never in DaS. Small area, two mob dogs to deal with, relatively gimmicky. Many fires would start as a result.
The point is, some people so adamantly refuse to acknowledge any single flaw in DaS. We recognize the flaws in BB when we see them, we don't hold our hands over our ears about the issue.

The point about the executioner's order comes from his sword, which is something the game says he's had since the beginning. In other words that might've been what he was before his time as a slave. Even if you wanted to add that as a separate point, when it's already conveyed by the first one pretty apparently, Adeline still has more back story. I don't know what you're getting so angry about.
