What the fuck is the deal with this company?

What the fuck is the deal with this company?

>Be legit as fuck back in the day
>go off the map for like 40 years
>get bought by BMW
>within a few years be sold to KTM

Are they shit? Niche? What exactly is their deal?

I like my Husqvarna brush saw, but hate using it.

The only good bikes they've made didn't come to the US, is all I know.

AFAIK most of them are rebadged KTM's now.

So why would KTM buy them just to sell KTM bikes under another name? How does this make any sense for KTM?

The 701 Supermoto is independently designed by KTM, first motorcycle they've made since acquisition designed in house. And it's fucking amazing.

That's a lawn equipment company, not a motorcycle company.

what were the good bikes?

It was just to keep the brand moving product while they worked on designing and building their own line.

theyre white KTMs nowadays. still good bikes, but youre literally just buying a white and blue KTM

>tfw they will never go back to red & white colors from Cagiva owned days

t. guy who is talking about honda

i like the 701

sewing machine IIRC

The Nuda never came here though, that was pretty much the only bike I would have bought from them.

...

really old bikes.

Sorry, meant independently designed by Husqy

i thought that was a rebadged bmw 800

The GS was a physically larger bike, yes it used the same engine.

>Get bought by Cagiva in the mid 80's

ftfy

im pretty sure if you look back bultaco or maico was better than husky.
especially Maico

did not say GS did i
the R was it called f800r? cant remember.

this bike=nuda right?

Yes Maico was considered top tier however husky was right up there with them, along with bultaco.

490 maico>husky? can anyone confirm?

the Nuda is this.

the Maico 490 was basically better than any pre 83 dirtbike ever made.

i think these were supposed to be good too. but i only see parts bikes for sale. never saw an actual ridable one.

not very different is it?

04 Husqy SMR449

love it. but i cream my pants every time i see the new smr 700's. HHHHHHNNNNNNNNG

thats the one that set a record for a dirtbike or something isnt it?

except the nuda actually looks good.

ktm killed the nuda because of the dukes. sucks.

>smaller tank
>smaller tail piece.
>completely different frame.
>slightly different ergonomics.

Yes its completely the same.

>going to be buying a new supermoto bike within a month
>debating either a FE501 or 500exc
>love the looks of the Husky over the KTM
>closest Husky dealer is 2 hours away
>also worried about availability of husky parts in the long run

Should I just bite the bullet and buy a KTM instead?

Well its the same bike except for fairings right? Forks suspension and engine the same?

You could always order KTM parts down the line.

I think the engine is the same, and I know the rear suspension is different.

The 701 is literally just a 690SMC with different plastics though.

so how is any old husky relevant?
personally id take a bultaco. or gas gas

that thing looks as hard to kick as my 625
whats with ktm and putting the lick lever on the wrong side?

No. 701 has a motor to itself. It's making like 12hp more than a 690 motor.

Pretty much all old bikes had left side kick.

yeet yeet nigga

i like mine better. because it was cheap

According to both KTM and Husky's websites they both use a 690cc engine that makes 49kw.

its good to have another brand name.

They also design a couple things differently, it looks like KTM is gonna be the "ready to race" brand with a bigger focus on performance while Husky is gonna be the "looks and ergonomics" brand with bigger focus on unusual design and everyday riding.

On a similar note, what's the deal with Husaberg? Seems like the same thing (rebadged KTM), just a few years older.

They mostly makes lawnmowers, chainsaws and similar tools if you talk about inhouse production part from the outsourcing for the actual metal cutting and welding which I've done at my work for some of their lawnmower frames.

t. Living Huskvarna within walking distance to Husqvarna factory.

The killed off husaberg when they bought husky

They are literally KTMs with different plastic.

This, that's all I know them as

t. millennials

>not wanting a motorcycle from a former small arms manufacturer

Husqvarnas are sold with a linkage rear shock instead of linkageless PDS. Also brand image. I think the Husqvarna name is supposed to carry a better image of higher quality.

They're practically the same bike. The rear shock is a little different and I think the frame is slightly different to fit the different shocks. Everything else is essentially the same. Any KTM dealer should be able to sell parts for either. Should have both brands of bikes in stock too.

The husky looks a million times better.

Fun fact, you can still buy a "brand new" BMW/Husqvarna dirt bike for like 5k cheaper than any other dirt bike available on the market (new prices)

Fun fact, good luck finding parts for a small company who produced something for like 3 years.

>What the fuck is the deal with this company?
Corporations look for old brands and buy them up for the name. So, it doesn't matter that Hussyvarnish got out of bikes and into power tools. If it made bikes in the 1950's, then whoever buys it will say "Making bikes in the USA since the 1950's" or whatever else they want.

More known for their outdoors equipment than bikes really. I have pic related bought in the 80's, still works with minor maintenance.

Advice from someone who's money grows on trees?
Husky a shit, Stihl or go fuck yourself

>implying they didnt get their name as rifle makers

pleb

I've owned an 08 sm610 for a few years now and haven't had issues getting whatever parts off hall's cycles. They even sent me a free gasket when I fucked up the one I bought. Not shilling just trying to help fellow husky riders

at first I thought you were saying you had to be rich to buy stihl, then I realized you were saying you do tree work.

Husqvarna motorcycles are for fucking giants. Their seat heights are all 38"

Yes they made guns. That's where their logo came from. It's supposed to resemble the barrel of a rifle.
They have been out of that business for a long time and mainly make lawn equipment now.

SWM now produces them, they bought the rights to the old bikes.

all dirt bike seats are tall, you don't have to flat foot both feet champ.

KTM only bought the brand name btw

oh you are right, the current line up of husqvarna dirt bikes are not white KTM's with linkage suspension instead of PDS.

Of course they would they're built by blonde blue eyed arayans, your inferior manlet untermenschen race shouldn't be riding them.

Is this parody? Because that's exactly what they are.

>meanwhile

Probably the best looking dirt bikes on the market currently.

>Having to fill the oil on a husquavarna mower
