its been like a month and a half since i crashed im happy to report the car has performed admirably since then especially since i didn't learn my lesson and still drive like a dumbass the car has stood up to the abuse
i have more backroad adventure stories and car spaghetti to tell
also itt: >shitposting >that time when you did something stupid but it turned out better than you expected >yfw >spaghetti >betrayal >redemption
post stories, discuss things, take a load off, this is a laid back thread
Austin Bailey
i have not crashed again and im more careful now but i didn't stop tearing it up innawoods
during an excursion i found someone stupider than me
this is a 1992 nissan sentra it shouldn't have been up here even more than i shouldn't have it was equipped with what appears to be a makeshift suicide knob held on with electrical tape

i have done a bit of """off roading""" with varying levels of success
>inb4 not real off roading i know >inb4 clean your windshield i know
i thought about posting a bit in /org/ but they aren't very nice over there and don't seem to like subarus so i thought better

One time me and my buddies got a 30 rack and piled into my 1999 grand cherokee. We were on a mission to reach the tip of the keweenaw peninsula. The road was muddy, bumpy and longer than I thought it would be. Almost didn't have enough gas to make it back. We had a great time charging through puddles all the way there. When we arrived we met some friendly yoopers who shared their campfire and beer with us. I would totally do it again but I'm scared for my jeep.

welp im going to bed so i guess ill post my greentext now
less successful but still moderately successful this is the stupid part btw
>exploring the trails >decide to go up one i hadn't been before >it's a little rougher than the surrounding roads but still doable >having a pleasant time >windows down with the cool mountain air blowing in >the serene silence is split by the almost completely unmuffled boxer >after a couple miles the road suddenly becomes much rougher >giant humps and ditches >the path is now angled steeply downwards >realize how ill equipped i am for this >this path is probably only for quad bikes and big 4x4s >oh sheit >the path is much too narrow to turn around and to go backwards id have to reverse like a mile >stop the car and walk down the hill to see if continuing is an option >mild to severe freaking out >the trail levels out and widens on a ridge another few hundred feet down >to get there i will have to traverse the worst ground yet >might as well be rock crawling >decide its my best option but not confident it will make it back up once its down >only option is to go deeper, to willingly cast myself into the mouth of doom... >i go forth unto the abyss >slowly crawl down the rest of the way >emerge on ridge
it was beautiful up there and i took a while to collect my thoughts and contemplate the decisions in my lie that i had made up till this point also took some neat pics almost complete silence other than the distant roar of dirtbikes and people having more fun than me
Aaron Nelson
cont. >pull myself back together and start looking for a way out of this pickle >follow the path down off the ridge to see if i can get out of this the easy way >lol nope it turns into actual atv trails >narrow, vertical, trees everywhere >my only option it to go back up and out >well shit
i kinda wish i had got footage of going back up because i was honestly impressed at how well it did and how easy it was didn't get stuck once. my phone was almost dead however and i wanted to save it for calling for help in case i got stranded ..so i wouldn't die
>on my way up the rest of the slope i misjudge a couple of the bumps and smack the underside of the car on the ground >cringing like ive never cringed >once at the top on more even ground i notice that something is seriously wrong >everytime the wheels turn my steering wheel jerks to the right and there is a terrible crunching >get out of the car several times to inspect the wheels expecting them to be hanging off the axles or something >can't see anything wrong with them >no choice but to keep driving as im in the middle of fucking nowhere >after a few minutes the problem goes away >ok >drive down the mountain to my house >go to bed
everything went better than expected ive been daily driving the car ever since without incident
Daniel Diaz
wow that looks like shit the stabilizer and the potato quality make it hard to see how fucked it was whatevs

Its not the steepness. It's hard to tell but there is a huge dip in it maybe 2 or 3 feet deep. I had to ride up on the side to get through with out high centering.

Like the adventures of your car and that it's still alive. I remember the original thread.

Hello fellow Oregon user, glad to see you again. >spaghetti
Boy oh boy, do I have a car spaghetti story for you: >only have a few hours of stick experience >driving around town yesterday morning, just learning as I go >two qts in a Mercedes convertible show up behind me on a busy road >see a hill with stopped cars on it >worry.png >manage to pull off a hill-start with minimal roll back, feels good >qts still behind me >come to a stop sign in front of a roundabout >stop, look, gas on and clutch off- >fucking stall >qts start laughing at me >big truck in the next lane drowning out all other engine sounds >try to start car, don't hear anything >no tach so I can't see what the engine is doing >try to start it again but it was already running and makes a horrible noise >knees shaking, palms are sweaty >finally get moving again >go immediately home >relive that moment over and over in my head
Been making excuses to avoid driving that car all day.

Just another suffering Portlander. Glad I at least have a car, even if I can hardly drive it, in light of yesterday's double murder on the train I used to take home from university...

Can't wait to get out of this shithole city tbqh. Already been threatened with stabbing from random homeless a few times this year. They need to go back.
Leo Peterson
well we got homeless down south too but at least they don't threaten to stab you
i do hate them though. most of them are late 20s to mid 30s and are homeless by choice. and they feel entitled to your money. and the worst part is that they probably make more money than i do from all the fucking tourists who don't know any better.
Isaac Price
actually now that i think about it there was a local guy a few years ago who got impaled and nearly decapitated with a sword while walking on the bike path
