This car is going to flop because it's gonna blend into the glut of GT tourers out there. It hardly even looks different from the 6 series. They should have treated it as a halo car and just gone wild with it, but perhaps BMW is too full of bean counters to do that anymore

They should save the R&D money and focus on thei "affordable, sexy, fun to drive two-door coupes and roadsters" niche besides their regular people carriers. They got it right with the M2, probably the only car in their entire line-up that is not inferior to a Mercedes, at least it's the only new BMW I would want at the moment.

For instance a built 125cc dirtbike engine makes almost 400hp/l at only 12k rpm.

It's really on dependent on stroke length and cost of valve train, and the higher the displacement the less the hp/l.

Modern ICE engines are basically maxed out within the constraints of emissions and consumer fuel grades.
