I ain't about that life
Designed by Mazda. in 1989 it would have actually been assembled by Kia. One of the better crap cans of the 80s, easily better than a Geo Metro
>don't wanna put miles on my jetta.
Why
That's what I think too, so easy to work on.
I share it with my girlfriend and it gets driven enough already.
6 mile commute is nothing for a jetta
I'm so jealous of the non rust belt. I couldn't dream of having something like that without driving at least 300 miles out of rust central.
>being cucked out of your car by your girlfriend
Holy shit this is a new low. How many times a week does she fuck other dudes in the back of it?
Don't get me wrong my jetta is a great car, it's just be nice to have a second between me and the girlfriend.
It cherry man, always liked festivas my bro had one in high school and they are just so damn simple to work on
Yeah I bet she puts a lot of miles on it, with the frequent trips to Tyrone's trap house and all.
DO IT. Prepare for "old car" problems though
>cracked moldings
>rust spots that get bigger every time you look at them
>smell
>dust
>all parts ordered online
The list goes on. My cars are 1983, 1985, and 1993. Old cars can be cheap and cool but maintenance is special.
>I share it with my girlfriend
T...tyrone is just a friend.
Yeah they definitely have their quirks but I barely ever see festivas since they just get scrapped it anything happens to them.
I had one when I was young. They're slow, loud, have paper-thin exterior panels and if you get into so much a 20 MPH fender bender you're likely in the hospital and your car is totaled. This car was a POS when it was new.
If all you want is a mile eater get a beat Tercel or Sentra, it'll be more reliable and you may survive a crash.
You raise a good point, they definitely aren't safe. I drove an Mr2 for a couple years and always felt a little sketch next to semis and big trucks
I've owned both and I NEVER felt unsafe in the MR, in the Festiva...constantly. I got into a 2 MPH tussle with a metal parking spacer in that thing - basically destroyed the entire quarter panel. Looked like someone had taken a can opener to it.
My commute is tiny but that is still something i'm legitimately worried about for sure
It's a solid shitbox. My dad has one in great condition and it's a great little putt around vehicle. Better than a geo metro.
Its his dads Jetta.
I kind of want to buy one to build into a Rallycross car. I love the short wheelbase 3-doors.
>youtube.com
yeah Im day dreaming about putting a 1.8 liter from the mazda in it
fatty detected
Isn't that what Jettas are made for?

I really suggest you do the math and figure out how much that thing is really gonna save over your jetta. I mean your saying what? 12 miles a day for work, so about 3k miles a year are not going on the jetta. Now take into account you have to pay title papers, on this thing and possibly sales tax in your locale. So lets say $1300 out the door for this car and it costs another $150 yearly for insurance, tabs and maintenance.
$1450/3000
FOURTY-EIGHT CENTS A FUCKING MILE; what you'll be paying for the privilege of commuting in that POS for the first year w/o fuel or unexpected costs. ADD IN FUEL AND IT'S GONNA GO TO SIXTY CENTS A MILE FOR THE FIRST YEAR.
Buy your girl a buspass and drive your jetta,
Yes, do it
