I think if you check legends it will tell you the region? If you were in the hamlet proper it will at least tell you which one, if not it will be less specific and just tell you what you already know.

I used to be well into Dorf Fort but these days I just can't play it. The fun part is setting up the embark party equipment (7 rat meat, 14 ales, 2 picks, an axe and a bag of seed. Maybe a dog), then I get into the game proper and I'm all like "Well, shit", and turn it off. The graphics are fine, controls are (more or less) fine, its just playing the game that gets me.

2GB of autism is the minimum system requirement for DF, but you'll want at least 8GB to fully utilize all it's features. If you plan to use minecarts, siege engines, or the ceramics industry you definitely won't be able to get away with the minimum. Someone here claimed to have made a fully functioning pump stack with only 2GB once, but I think was a troll.

They weren't lying, they just cut corners in other places that you couldn't normally get away with. IIRC they used a public dormitory, just plump helmets, invaders off so no military, and built the rest of the fort in the soil layer. More a stunt than anything else.

Despite its reputation, DF is actually a 100% neurotypical game.

Some dwarves with high initial discipline stat or one of the migrants was a skilled teacher.

Kinda sucks, first fort I had a 50+ siege, then 100+ siege and it was a challenge.
Seecond fort it was like 10 goblins getting slaughtered

When I just started playing it back in high school (2010), one of my teachers who saw it said that he recognised it.

He didn't actively play it though, and to be honest, he might just have confused it with some other game that used CP437.

I've tried shilling it to some of my friends, but to no avail. It appears I'm the only one in my circle of friends who has the willpower strong enough to brave the dangers of playing without grafix xD.
