Do Kirin Bolts have enough white sharpness that you can drop RS for another damage skill? I've seen some people do it and others not, and I guess it depends on what you are fighting bur I'd like to hear some opinions on whether you should do this either in Gen or XX.

Personally I'd go for lagi because the effective damage loss is minimal, they have long white, and I just think they look better.

This, as an IG player I prioritize tripping SA players.

If we are talking about the best in XX then I would argue that Lagi DBs are, since you can make a set with:
-Thunder Atk +2
-Crit Element
-Crit Boost
-Weakness Exploit
-Critical Eye +3

which will have 100% affinity on weakspots along with the skills mentioned above. I was just wondering if the set is realistic because both Lagi and Kirin are similar in that they have long white, which could be capitalized on to gain more skills when other DBs cant afford to do the same

I can see where you are coming from, but Sharpness +X and Razor sharp can also be viewed as damage skills.
You want to be in purple sharpness as much as possible, and DBs are notorious for eating through their sharpness.
Without RS you'll be in white in no time.

Well then I guess Lagi is the way to go if you don't need the slots, otherwise Kirin is inferior.
You should have no problem lasting with that much white for a good while.

When's a good time to start taking on Deviants? I just got to HR 5. I can fight Redhelm and Snowbaron, but it takes a long-ass time to take them down for me currently.

While we are talking about DBs, which of the water DBs do you think are the best? I really don't like the sharpness lengths of a lot of them, so I'm thinking S+2 and possibly RS would be needed as well.

Plesioth if S+2 is easy to get, Guild Knight if you want the affinity and need the slots, Deviant Mizu if you want the affinity and do not need the slots.

Deviant Mizu with S+2 and crit boost is better than Plesioth with S+2 and crit boost.

No, but it's in the top three.
No. 1 is arguably Silverwind or Dreadking. No. 3 is Hellblade, but you rarely see people ever use Hellblade because there aren't many weapons that synergize with it, despite it being a decent enough set.

Mixed sets generally outclass Deviant sets.

I'm glad Deviants don't make mixed sets obsolete, as they're one of my favorite things about MH. It actually bothers me a little bit that glamour/transmog/whatever is in XX, because there's something charming about clownsuits. But really, it was inevitable, and something I know a lot of people wanted.

It'll also give me an actual reason to get collab suits other than Star Knight.

Assuming you're using CB (which you should)

Deviant Mizu > Mizu > Plessy > Guild Knight

Sharpness +2 and Razor sharp are piss easy to get on the same set. Doesn't require any special charms or decorations.

Does crit boost really make the 20% affinity from D Mizu worth so much that you would put it over plessy? I thought that with all blades being in purple either plesioth or even niblesnarf would be better, since their raw and element values are just straight up higher, especially for niblesnarf.
