Best way to make a 400hp car that is reliable and can be daily driven for 15k?

My thoughts are 1998-2002 camaro with a turbo

Corvette C6
400hp car

would that not be more than 15k?

this was a sweet deal, guy rejected my offer though

ebay.com/itm/1994-Chevrolet-Camaro-Z28-/391791441429?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&nma=true&si=IDugNTmuFOoLArjkKzSlddfbxJM%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

you dont need a turbo to make 400hp from an ls.
just get good heads, good header, and add compression.

would it be DD without being obnoxious though?

Can you get a Golf GTI to 400hp without breaking shit?

2005-2006 GTO

get a good deal

no mods neded

Mustang with a supercharger

Buy a fox body for 2k, buy 5.0 coyote engine for like 6k and you have a reliable 400hp+ dd for under 10k.

If you want to spend 15k just get an older corvette C5 or if you want a more practical car with 400hp for under 15k just get a 2011 Stang GT w/ back seats

>If you want to spend 15k just get an older corvette C5 or if you want a more practical car with 400hp for under 15k just get a 2011 Stang GT w/ back seats

do you really think I could get a daily driver C5 for 15?

they seem more than that in good condition

$6000, 375 hp

LS 4th gens are already making low-mid 300s stock. You could have 400 easily with minor engine work.

Damn she's ugly.

r34 gtt

she's a multimillionaire movie star

doesn't mean she can't be ugly

So is Steve Buscemi

wait a second... ever notice you never see Maisie Williams and Steve Buscemi in a room at the same time?

Stick a ZZ430 clone in a 4th gen Camaro.

Done and done.

...

she just looks like a typical brit slag to me.

>buy 5.0 coyote engine for like 6k
or a used ls for 1.5k

new gen taurus sho, get em for 11-14k and get the LMS Stage one kit, easily get 430 hp just off bolt-ons

>400 horses on a pigfat american car

enjoy your boat OP

>ford

Heads cam intake swap foxbody
$8000

As far as RWD V8s go, 3400 pounds could definitely be worse.

no, idiot.

>400hp

>15k
Pick 2

do you have any idea how difficult that swap is?
what am I saying, it's/o/, home of the $500 and a weekend meme, of course you don't.

Installing a turbo is a lot of work compared to what he said, and his won't compromise reliability.

DO NOT turbo an engine with more than 100k miles on it

hp

k
>Pick 2

A stock 2005 GTO with 60k miles on it is not reliable?

rude

You can, ignore the other clueless guy. It'll just be really expensive and perhaps pointless. Bigger turbo, injectors, internals, tune, basically an entire rework. All for a fwd family hatch? Idk. You're looking at 20-30k in parts and labor

Most ppl here learn their shit from video games and think you can just put an engine in and it'll work

what kind of hp can you get from a tune, downpipe and supporting mods?

cargurus.com/Cars/l-Used-2006-Pontiac-GTO-c5776

>A stock 2005 GTO with 60k miles on it is not reliable?
TOLD

Close to 300. Apr stage 2 gets 260/310tq

I thought it was supposed to be 300+hp

>coyote engine in a fox
For what purpose user

A C5 vette would be a stretch at that price

3.0 ecoboost

if youre looking for reliable

Chassis: 1k
2jz-gte and r154: 10k
slap on a big turbo: some amount

i dd a 97 camaro its an okay thing to do, theyre fun cars and look super nice not sure why youd turbo a car with more hp than your ever gonna use except maybe those few times you initially show it off to someone

400hp should be streetable

There's a 2000 vette 6speed with 70k miles in my town the guy wants $14,000 for, it's in nice condition

thinking about it

>DO NOT turbo an engine with more than 100k miles on it
Are you retarded?

>reliable 400hp daily driver for 15k

carsales.com.au/dealer/details/Holden-Commodore-2007/OAG-AD-14657494/?Cr=13
350hp stock, 2k for intake/exhaust/tune, 400hp 2ez

I wish you could get those in the USA

new ones not pontiacs

>v8 opel

why when you can get a mustang or a corvette? maybe im just doing the same thing wanting something i cant have

A mustang is a far shitter car than a Holden with an LS3 in it

and a vette is not really a practical car for most people and too expensive

There are basically no rear wheel drive V8 sedan type cars in the USA that are under 60k

>reliable

All of these cars are awful for daily
there are better cars to choose from than these suggestions

>All of these cars are awful for daily

such as?

this freaking guy

Technically. They have traction issues without an LSD though.

Fuck I wish Golf Rs were not so damn expensive

>Fuck I wish Golf Rs were not so damn expensive
know that feel

they are usually over 30k used

bastards

You could get 400hp out of a pontiac G8 if you can find one cheap

>Buy wrecked C6 with 400hp stock
>Take the body off
>2500lb go-kart with a V8
>?????

You can get a vette for that price, here is one for 14k with 50,000 miles on it

installing a turbo without building the engine isn't half as much work as building the engine

but then you blow up the engine

IS-F

How has nobody posted this yet. Probably the best 400hp sedan ever made, truly a high water mark for BMW. And can easily be had for $15k

what model is that

E39 M5

>E39 M5
I doubt you can buy an M5 for 15k

Veeky Forums in a nutshell

>I doubt you can buy an M5 for 15k
You can't

you don't need to boost it for 400hp, and it will go 150k not 15k

cam, springs, headers, hp tuners or w/e... done

oh you meant to spend $15k

you can build literally anything for $15k and make 400hp, whether its a honda or an LSx

still, you gotta be retarded to boost an LSx as a way of achieving only 400hp

2005+ pontiac GTO comes with 400hp stock and can be had for $15k

>still, you gotta be retarded to boost an LSx as a way of achieving only 400hp

I had a procharger on a LS1 camaro and downtuned it so I was only making a little over 400hp at the wheels. I could run 87 octane and I was making 350ft/lbs of torque at 1800rpm. That retarded low torque is the reason I personally like boost on a street car.

500+hp boosted on a camaro just spins the tires through 5th gear on the street, it's unusable power except at the track and breaks things

but it weighs 4000lbs

you could have spent 1/4 the $ to do exactly the same thing without a SC

I love when I see cars with a ton of performance mods and it says "NEVER been raced or abused"

Yes, I got performance mods just because....

Not really, there is no way to get that much torque down low without supercharging

this thing would pull when passing from 2000-3000 rpm to the point it would spin tires, you can't get that from 87octane with good mileage from any cam or head work, you need to be cramming air down the engines throat to get big power down low in a street car

It only had 7k miles on it

but believe it or not old guys do that shit all the time

10/10 vacuum

2004-2007 CTS-V. 2005-2006 GTO. Nothing needed.

stay with me here. An N54 335i makes 400+hp and 450+ torque from stock + $100 dci + $200 chargepipe + $500 jb4 tune to up boost. You can a low mileage one for as little as $10k and have $3k left to spend on maintenance items, which are overstated. It's more reliable than other models if you treat the turbos well. Expect to replace the water pump and thermostat if they weren't already. I daily drive my n54 with more mods at 550hp

>reliable

Since most comments are memes I'll post my best advice. I've been in the same boat as OP before so the best choices are as follows;

1. 3v mustang for around 10k-12k with 3k-5k in bolt on mods, won't be 400whp but easily 400bhp without forced induction, will be reliable.

2. If you can find a 2011+ mustang gt for under 15k, they're already over 400hp, plenty reliable. Look for an early one with like 50k-90k miles to be under 15k.

3. C5 Corvette but will be extremely hard to find one that doesn't have issues or isn't priced above 15k. However, it is possible to get a good one if you look hard enough.

4. C4 Corvette for 10k-12k with 3-5k in mods. Only if you find a clean low mileage one. Could be worth considering

5. 2010 Camaro ss. These are usually over 15k but there's one on my craigslist with 40k miles for 15.5k so it's worth keeping your eye open as they creep down in price. Low optioned and base model versions might be found for just under 15k.

6. 05-06 GTO, already over 400hp but pretty rare to find and a lot of them may have issues.

Anything else is a likely money pit, won't be reliable, requires too much work to hit 400hp, and/or much rarer than what I've listed.

Corvettes actually have ridiculous trunks but not many people know this.

There are basically no rear wheel drive V8 sedan type cars in the USA that are under 60k

Charger. CTS-V. Pontiac g8. Chevy SS.

Buy a decent condition 5.0 Fox and get a decent shop to do a stroke to 347.

cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/697867846/overview/

Alternatively, you could just buy an SRT4 and put a bigger turbo on it. They can be built to 400hp with ease in your own garage with bolt on parts for way below 15k.

>20k in parts and labor to get a golf gti to 400hp
what the fuck lol?

>paying for labor

wew lad

>CTS-V. Pontiac g8. Chevy SS.

All very expensive

>take the car to the designated oil change place
>pay 25$
>drink coffee and flirt with a sexy receptionist while the boys do the dirty job

idk why would you want to do it yourself desu

oil changes are so cheap it costs nearly the same to do it yourself because they get the cheapest bulk oil and bulk filters at wholesale

i can understand paying for an oil change. anything beyond that is retarded

that being said, the industry is full of sheisters and often times they don't even change the oil or filter, just let it sit for 15 mins and send you on your way. on top of that they will try to talk you into $600 more worth of "maintenance that you need" just based off of the mileage reading in your dash and not anything to do with your maintenance history

i prefer to avoid all the headaches of the fucked industry myself

youtube.com/watch?v=-avpx8UTakI

also i think its foolish to let yourself be distracted by the bimbo at the counter instead of watching them work on your car for reasons

C4 ZR1 or C5 Z06.

Both can be found less than $15k, the ZR1 makes 'only' 375hp but close enough. C5 Z06 is at 405hp.

depends on the engine.

the v8 in the e34 can do 18 psi stock.

Yes you can. They're regularly 11-15k
