ARE VOLVOS WORTH IT
No
maybe
only the RWD ones (240, 740, 940) and only if they've been LS swapped
thanks
Yes.
the 240/740 seem too be the best choices. Too bad LS swapping is illegal here
how do these compare to the similar-looking w123 benzs?
Yes, especially the red block models. They're all pushing thirty years old and up, so things will need replacing and maintenance like any old car, but they're cheap to keep running and fucking refuse to die. I bought one with 320,000km on it and used it for courier work, putting down 1000-2000km a week on it. Got it up to about 360k before the original fuel pump crapped out and sold it to some guy. Still had the original clutch in it too. I saw it about a year later on the highway, still going strong. I've had two 240s and currently have a '71 144.
Pic related
>especially the red block models
non turbo is uselessly slow tho
No
Yeah, accelerating onto the highway is always exciting lol
>tfw when there's a semi barrelling down the road and you're still 20mph short of the speed limit
Define worth it
Ive had 4 volvos, Subaru forester, crown Vic, Astro van, little pickup, zx2 escort.
Recently got pissed after doing a wheel bearing on the Forester and went to a 5 speed 240 wagon, because fuck any other car.
They all need work, might as well be easy to work on.
I also picked up an inspected 740 for 200 bones yesterday.
my volvo when
Yes. Pic related is mine. (1973 Volvo 142
OC from a few years back.
I've had an '08 S40T5 for 6 years now. Great little car, pretty damn reliable. Put 90k miles on it during that time and really only had two issues that were partially covered by Volvo as a missed recall.
Is it a super fast car? No. It's peppy, fun, reliable, and nobody would guess it's a 10 year old car by looking at it.
Also, I went off-roading in it once. Don't do that. The AWD pulled it through some rough shit but damn, I'll never do that again. It was by accident- a pole crashed down during a nasty t-storm and I was stranded with my wife up in the mountains of NC. Decided to drive off-road until I came across another trail and back on the road.
>nu-volvo
uhh, I would be hesitant to even call that a volvo
nu-volvo is irrelevant, they've betrayed their past.
>car makers
>corvette
VOLVOS ARE COOL YOU SHOULD GET ONE
You can't really say chevy, they make tons of FWD cars
Even the turbos are pretty slow. They are a good starting point, but stock they are not fast by any stretch.
it was decent when it came out in the 80s, by todays standards it's slow as fuck tho
How does this look? Guy says only damage on the car is shitty paint and slightly torn seats, not a big deal at all for a decent shitbox. Mechanically it's perfect, according to the seller.
That looks like a '74
yes
Seller listed cold AC as a feature, he knows fuck all about cars.
I'm guessing the Benzs have a better ride quality and better interiors, probably faster too. I don't know anything about them, but I will tell you my 240 is bouncy as fuck and about as slow as it looks (and it looks like a brick). Interior is pretty spartan, too.
It's Hawaii. Everyone lists cold ac if the car has it.
This tbqh senpai
if you want to look like a geography teacher
The real question
Is anything else worth it?
be prepared to do an engine swap, or grab a turbo brick
No turbo, it's gonna be slow af
Sry, miss spelled
If you cut up the air box and hack up the exhaust, the non turbo redblocks arent actually that slow.
Get that tranny kickdown cable dialed, or just the engine opened enough to breath so you can keep laying down what power you have and they'll move.
Srsly, git gud.
you gotta be careful with those though, they tend to make you drive like a retard and spin out at 5mph
>tfw no T5-powered Amazon
