I still prefer CSS due to the extra damage and piercing. GSD is alright but not worth the extra fp cost when it has the same job as Great Deep Soul, but GDS is more efficient with fp and stamina.

Dark Spells are basically outclassed by everything in their own spell class.

Dark spells do provide Sorcerors the ability to do something against magic resistant enemies, but 9/10 times you should just pick a standard Magic-damage spell. They're faster, already stack with your Dusk Crown if you're using that (also magic clutch for PvE), and will get the full benefits of scaling.

The only good Dark Sorcery is Great Deep Soul because it's spammable as hell and has decent tracking so its slow nature works in its favour. You can justify it and you don't even need a Hexing catalyst to make use of it. The rest is trash.

The rest of the dark spells are just slower versions of sorceries and thus have no unique utility, and don't have enough extra damage to justify the slowness.

Dark builds in general are pretty pointless now because before it was something of a unique damage type - Pyros already did it better, now Faith builds have the Crucifix, and even Dex builds get a nice Dark weapon with an in-built ranged attack.

I guess it was just a Londor ruse in the end. They're something similar to the Pilgrim Butterflies. Some of them came to Lothric and tricked Gertrude into starting a faith based on them, presumably one that advocates the Dark, and it lead to the civil war. I'd love an explanation of their light themed powers though, and its a shame there was nothing really tying them to Prince Lothric.

I'm more disappointed we're still no closer to understanding what the Deep is, despite getting a new enemy and a new spell related to it.

Well tell us your sl and wl. I get invasions all day on my sl 30, sl 50, and sl 80.

CSS pierces targets, so if you can get a good position you can hit an entire 3 man team with your most damaging attack. It also has much longer range than most spells to take advantage of the piercing.

My 2's team is a 60 faith UGS, and a 60 faith washing pole. One uses Darkmoon, the other Lightning, complete with Tears of Denial, Broad area healing, and ass kicking boots strapped on.

with how slow the projectile is, it should have the same tracking as deep soul
