Half way point: Gothic Basin Trailhead Monte Cristo Trail, Granite Falls, WA 98252
Meet at 1100am
Leave at 1130am
Start at Albertsons and head all the way to Gothic Basin Trailhead where the gravel begins. We will turn around there and head back to monroe. Stops will be as needed by the group, leave no man behind and all that.
Portlandfag here, I requested the 24th off, hopefully it goes through. Haven't asked for a day off since before the election, they've got no real reason to say no.
There's another Teriyaki place there. I think I may show up and give it a try for an early lunch if they have any lunch teriyaki bowls.

Anyone else getting hype?
Alexander Wilson
We are. Just getting things done ahead of time to make sure Saturday is open. The really hyped up peeps are scouting out the road ahead of time so that they know where to drive at ecoboost speed and when to slow back down to ferrari speed.
Nathan Rivera
...
Jordan Smith
>Anyone else getting hype? Ha ha, time to drive the road via google earth.
Liam Ward
>can't improve my mediocre driving skills because I work every day until next Thursday
At least I have Friday and Saturday off, maybe I can find some fun roads then.
Blake King
Only 8 days, this meet was planned too far in advance
John Hill
Are you retarded? People work so if you plan in advance they can request off and in general less things go wrong if there's time to plan and amend things.
Jace Jackson
>Only 8 days, this meet was planned too far in advance Okay, let's not plan the next Meet in advance but wait to the last minute to plan? And there's no telling how long planning takes because different people give their inputs at different times.
In past occasions, one week notice resulted in most people not being able to show up. Two weeks notice was better and many were able to show up although some people needed more time.
Jordan Peterson
>Only 8 days, this meet was planned too far in advance
Without that advance time, we might not have been able to inspect that Index town route! SO we'd all drive up and have to turn back after six miles due to road closure. It was fortunate there was enough days between the public announcement of the Meet and the actual day of the Meet to do an inspection of the route. Thank you to the two that went to check out the driving route.
Jacob Moore
...
Evan James
>Only 8 days, this meet was planned too far in advance
Nah, what would be better is a tighter time of arrival. More like "Meet at 11AM" and that is the Meet begins rather than 11:30AM. That way people will try to arrive by then instead of arriving by 11:30AM.
Justin Evans
How many people are going, if it's only like 5 I ain't gonna bother
Jaxon Kelly
>How many people are going, if it's only like 5 I ain't gonna bother There has never been more than 2 people showing up.
David Gray
>There has never been more than 2 people showing up. You're talking about per car.
Joshua Stewart
>You're talking about per car. The most per car in a Meet was 3 in Mr Snack's car last year at Rainier.
Liam Lewis
There's supposed to be a ghost town on the way to the Gothic Basin Trailhead. Hope the road goes close enough by there to see what it looks like.
Lincoln Martinez
This piques my interest. Any more information?
Caleb Nelson
I wanna come.
Adam Scott
Jeez it was a joke
Jeremiah Scott
I'm not sure if you can see it, but if you know where it's at on the map maybe we can stop and check it out
Nathan Hernandez
Then come
Matthew King
in my buttpussy
Ryder Harris
K just don't make fun of my car. Are gf's allowed?
Hunter Ramirez
sure
Ryder Rivera
>Are gf's allowed? REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE- Nah, bring your gf if you want, as long as she can handle autism and sperglordery.
Ryder Turner
I just asked her and sounds like she'll sit this one out so it'll probably be just me.
Pic related, still sure you want me to come? I don't want to embarrass you
Jose Gray
thats pretty bad but we've had worse
Justin Rodriguez
It'll grow on you
Ryan Martin
yeah, like a tumor
Isaac Turner
Gee I hope not.
Ian Lee
>having a PT why would you do that to yourself? you some kind of masochist?
Jacob Parker
Kek. What worse have you had in the past?
Justin Reyes
I had srt4's in the past and this is all I could afford. Found an ok deal..
Ethan Russell
whatd you end up paying?
Dylan Howard
$4k. 82k miles 5 speed 2.4 turbo. Dream series 2. It's slightly above a regular pt loser.
Luis Jones
eh not too bad, i didnt know they even made those in manual whats the plan for your next car?
Owen Rodriguez
hot dog
Jaxon Hernandez
I like your truck and doggo, user.
Ryan Perez
this dog is perpetual pant
Mason Scott
I like hatches and turbos so hopefully this car holds until I get out of school and into my apprenticeship so I can get an sti if I can't find an rs. The car is due for a timing belt change so it could snap at any time or it could hold another 30k miles who knows but I don't have 1300$ for timing belt job. It's a. $100 part but the labor is expensive.
David Evans
thanks m8 ill bring both to a meet eventually, truck is just super slow because old smogged 318
grab a shop manual and do it yourself. half the fun is getting in over your head on projects
Thomas Miller
Thanks I might have to resort to doing it myself. Will you be bringing the truck and pupper to the meet?
Carson Nguyen
Dat 80s bugflector
Jayden Gutierrez
Nvm you just answered that derp nice dog though
Nathaniel Jackson
its a "bugoff™" deflector m8
not this next one unless the weather is gonna go to crap
Angel Hughes
Our speedometers are very similar. Does your truck struggle beyond 70mph too?
Isaiah Stewart
>This piques my interest. Any more information? Frederick Trump, grandfather of future U.S. President Donald Trump, was also active in the town before it became a ghost town. He operated a boom-town hotel and brothel there. It was the site of the WA state's biggest gold rush despite coal being one of the things mined in the state. That's why you have names in the Bellevue area such as "Coal Creek" since that area and Renton had coal mines.
Inhabited "ghost towns" would be more like what Silverton (along our driving route) is. You can see Silverton on OP's driving map. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silverton,_Washington
>Dat 80s bugflector Do people still call them bug deflectors? In practice, it seems it was less for bugs than for preventing stone chips and sand chips on the hood and windshield glass. My grandfather had one and he called it a stone deflector. Back in those days when flexible clear coat wasn't on everything to strengthen and reduce chipping, the chance of rust was greater from all those chips in the paint. And windshields got those tiny sparkles due to sand pitting the glass with the tiniest of nearly microscopic chips.
The modern bug deflector has no obvious ugly shield sticking out up front. Instead, the upper front nose is made of polymer and is painted the same color as the rest of the body. Like the bug deflector, it takes the hits, generates a deflecting wind, and cannot rust.
a bit, but its also on 33.5" mud tires and was never exactly a speed demon either. over 75-80 the front end is loose enough it gets kinda sketchy anyways
Sebastian Sanchez
bump
Caleb Adams
I was just thinking about doing that. I don't know if we really need the thread anymore though do we?
Jose Rodriguez
Since people talked about using walky talkies in the previous thread, on July 23, a new law will modernize the "DUI" series of laws by adding "DUIE" which is Driving Under the Influence of Electronics.
Is anyone showing up earlier to get something to eat in town?
Kevin Gomez
>I wanna come. As a passenger? Do we know you?
Kevin Butler
Most people just drive alone because not everyone is interested in scenic twisty mountain drives done at fast speed. I took a coworker on a twisty but safe city road before and he got pretty scared even though I was not more than 5 over the speed limit. I guess Meet type drives are not for everyone!
Kevin Bell
...
Tyler Nguyen
Wait a minute I recognize that sticker.
It was gorgeous out today. Really sucks having to work all day when it's like this.
Owen Wood
>Is anyone showing up earlier to get something to eat in town? You could also order the food "TO GO" at the same shopping plaza as that Albertsons. There's a TeriYaki-Bowl opens at 11AM and the Fortune Valley opens at 10:30AM. I assume there will be a "snack break" sooner or later in the drive, so if you don't mind your food cooled down (pick something that stays good), then try that.
Or you can assume that everyone will get together for a dinner together at one of the local restaurants before we go our separate ways. What we decide will probably be finalized when we get there.
Noah Ward
>Wait a minute I recognize that sticker. Where's the WAT sticker!?
Angel Nelson
aperture science m8 and yeah, i know. im on call so i cant even get out on the bike after work if you want to get breakfast stuff detour up to the sultan bakery for some really good grub
that was before i bought any
Josiah Morris
We probably will meet at the back of the lot not right in from of the store where that picture is taken from
Aaron Rodriguez
From that inset map, the Monroe Shell gas price is the same as where I'm at in south seattle. I thought it would be more expensive way out there in Monroe.
William Taylor
No, as a driver. I'm the pt cruiser fag. But I might be busy on Saturday unfortunately.
James Ross
Who here is going to the second meet? I can't make it to the first one
Christopher Fisher
Hopefully me. I don't know if I'll be able to get that day off, and I don't know if I've got the energy for all that driving though. The longest I've gone behind the wheel is four and a half hours in a day, and that wouldn't even be the time it took to get there and back for me (I'm the Portlandfag).
Ryan Johnson
>But I might be busy on Saturday unfortunately. Your GF didn't want to go on a scenic ride but wanted to do something else instead that Saturday?
Adam Morales
>I don't know if I've got the energy for all that driving though. It can be a tougher drive when you come alone. With company a drive from portland seems easier to me. Back before the seattle-area got a Fry's Electronics retail store (located in the suburb city Renton, WA), we used to drive down to portland once in awhile to check out the Fry's Electronics retail store there. But since several of us went together, the drive wasn't so tough.
Ryder Martinez
Redbull and stretch and walk around at each stop. 16 hours and 1100 miles was my longest so far and the biggest issue i had was my elbow being kinda sore from resting on a hard spot on the door. Did it again this year on a bike, and again it's all about getting up and moving around
Colton Sullivan
>sultan bakery Thanks. It looks like Yelp reviews compliment them for their portion sizes based upon the hash brown size. But before I get there, I have to pass by the Reptile Petting Zoo across from the BBQ place. They have an albino crocodile. They even have lots of snakes (but no plane). Snohomish County seems to have all these petting zoos. Didn't you guys pass by the Australian animal petting zoo on a previous Meet?
>The longest I've gone behind the wheel is four and a half hours in a day I think having frequent rest stops to walk around and look at non-moving scenery lets you recover from driving. Portland to Buckley is a longer drive. But things are lush and green and its a twisty road and there are some places with big pullouts large enough for all of us to fit our cars.
The lush forest driving season is so short. Last year, the intermittent rains started up mid september and then became frequent through october to the beginning of may this year. Then suddenly, it seemed like the rains turned off except for the sprinkle a few days ago. So I will go to both the june 10th and 24th drives. Otherwise, the long rainy season is just a few months away. I want to drive a few places before it's too late to avoid the rains and roads being closed for the season.
Ryder Watson
Alright mates I'll be at the second one for sure then. (Not the portlandfag), hope you make it btw Reptile zoo wasn't that great desu. Been there, some minor novelties but I wasn't really impressed. But then again never really was a big fan of snakes.
Jaxson Sullivan
my bro bring your gf, mine is coming
Austin Cook
>But then again never really was a big fan of snakes. They need a plane to be good.
Levi Nelson
is that sperg with the hypermoto going
Nathaniel Miller
Looks like it's gonna rain on Saturday
Nathaniel Ortiz
Just remember to keep an eye out for the weather report if you're riding a bike. It's supposed to be sunny in seattle on saturday. But Monroe is a different area.
I get weather reports simply by googling: monroe washington weather
Isn't the best time after a short rain? That's what June usually gets. There can be a 20 minute rain and the rest of the day is sunny. But that's still classed by the weather service as a rainy day. Then the fog rises up among the tree and you can see sort of far ahead but not perfectly due to the mist. It's sort of ethereal.
Christian Butler
>Looks like it's gonna rain on Saturday Most of the past May days with rain only had short bursts that stopped. But the weather service still marks that day as a rain day.
Angel Evans
Yea it blows, friends from CO are visiting and there's a bbq with fags... I might say fuck it and come myself though and let her go to see her faggity friends alone.
Colton Martinez
Still have no idea what car I'm bringing but I'm coming to the 24th meet.
Tyler Roberts
It's like you can't win. I would like for you to come to the Meets, but if she wants you to be there to meet her personal friends, then that's how it goes. Now, if she keeps on scheduling things to collide with each Meet date, then that would be a problem! Ha ha.
Lincoln Fisher
When is the next meet and where?
Benjamin Hall
...
Carter Sanchez
G37 fag from the last thread here btw. Anyone bringing radios to the second meet? Not sure if I should buy one yet or not
Jacob Anderson
I'll be bringing a CB radio, there was an annon above who had some walky-talkies.
Colton Mitchell
s/o/cal fags here. This run looks weak stop being pussies and do a road with more curves
Colton Torres
Please find us one. Washington has shit toegay anywhere close to civilization
Aiden Bailey
CB is in the 27Mhz frequency band. There was an expansion.to the 49Mhz band to provide room for more channels. The the FRS type radios opened up the 480Mhz band using FM instead of AM.
Because the chinese sell amateur radio gear cheaply, many people bought that from Aliexpress (or other places like Amazon and Ebay) and used it especially in the 2M (two meter) wavelength range. Of course, ham radio gear use on many bands requires not only a license, but rigorous examinations. Since no one really enforces the law, people have been usurping the spectrum from the hams more and more. As long as the chinese gear isn't used to transmit on the police bands, no one comes after you since the amateur radio operators are basically helpless.
Ryder Wilson
Careful with the HAM autists. If you piss them off they will spend the better part of a year trianggulating your ass and sending the fucking radio police on your ass. Not even joking these boomer fucks have nothing better to do with their network of 25,000 dollar antenna. Stay safe.
Hudson Richardson
Will they backtrace our transmission?
David Perez
Niice the second meat looks even better I should make it to that.
