the khergit elite armour literally got repolished and put in bannerlord, which is fine since that's a pretty good piece

Why not? If you look closely, it also has metal rings beneath the leather(?), so it can work as some sort of aventail with oversized rings, or maybe as some sort of coat of plates (with big rings instead of plates)
