Why do routes other than Runa's exist?

I just like reading how a person deals with whatever shit happens in their story. Is it that far fetch to consider these characters as people with their own particular quirks? Even if those quirks tend to tread on the line of retardation. Admittedly, I'm rather tolerant of MCs like that, but I often look at it this way altogether:
