Also others are right. Go used. 5k max. Cheaper insurance and if she wrecks or dumps you it's no huge loss. Also register in her name or else you'll be paying parking/red light fines till you lose your license.
You can get great cars for under 5k. I bought my GF a 1500$ Volvo and a 1200$ 03 Focus after she beat up the first. Everyone fucks up their first car.
