I'm about to lose my shit Veeky Forums

>about a month ago riding in my 1991 22re
>randomly my check engine light comes on
>oh fuck that's never good on a vehicle this old
>5 minutes later the light goes off

I think nothing of it because nothing is fucked with my engine that I know of

>today riding to work
>check engine light comes on
>stays on for about 2 minutes
>goes off

What the fuck is up? I can't even get it to stay on long enough to read the output on it.

>read the output on it.
What scanner are you using?

The old paper clip method.

Maybe buy a vehicle that isn't a piece of shit?

Possibly misfires

Two minutes shoul be long enough.

Is the engine running when you tool that pic? Fuel looks low, could be related.

this
I once ran out of fuel in my moms pegout 206 and managed to drive it to a gas station on fumes and refuel
when I took off check engine light went on but went off after 2-3 mins

But don't overfill, that will set it off too.

Yea both times it came on while I was driving

It does it while I'm driving only.

If the paper clip trick doesn't work while you're driving, then it is not very helpful. Why not use a cheap scanner?

Get it scanned, OP. Or buy a scantool and do it yourself. Could be anything from some stupid and gay part of the emissions control system failing to your engine needs help.

If it starts flashing, that's bad. Stop driving as soon as you can and get that looked at right away.

lol another 22re meme. Have fun with that 100year old "toyota"

Cant use a ODB scanner on a 22re

What the fuck is that?

Pre-OBDII is fun.

Just unplug the battery for a few minutes and let it go. If you're engine is running fine then don't worry. Usually it's a sensor crapping out. Check the code and fix it.

Pre-OBD2 scanners are a thing.

The engine is running fine and it doesn't store the code. It says there is no code. The CEL has never been on for more than 3 or so minutes and it's always starts and stops while driving.

and you did the unplug battery thing?

Show me any other engine that old that is still as widespread as the 22re

Is the seal on your gas cap good? The more modern OBD2 cars take awhle for the check engine light to come on if the cap is loose or leaking and takes a while to turn off after the cap is replaced properly.

Is thjs real or a meme? I see people saying a fucking gas cap can throw a code, how?

Fuel tank pressure, which will throw off O2 sensors.
