any reason why qc feels 90% of the game is client sided? people warping all over and hits seem to be clocked on the clients so laggers with 150 ping feel like they get an advantage - combined with anarki/nyx means you're almost unkillable

Well, nobody's posting leaks. If we had some leak posters people might care. But somehow nobody feels like posting any leaks anywhere, I'm lurking /v/, 8ch/v/ and even quake-related subplebbits because I didn't get a key and I'm a pretty hardcore Quake fan at this point. Nothing anywhere. One guy made some webms on thursday or friday, showing rail quickscopes doing 100 damage, that was the only real info I've gotten out of this whole beta as an outsider so far.

I'm guessing people who got in are busy doing two things: Playing and posting on the locked off beta forums. Maybe some of them are not aware that only people who got a key can access those. Or maybe they all think they alone can save the game by setting the devs straight (delusions).

I'll chalk it up to beta reason maybe, but the few matches I've played had the people at the top of the leadboards with about 3x my ping and playing Anarki and Nyx. All the guns seem to delay when the projectile comes out by half a second and the hits don't even reliably register on the enemy when I watch things I've recorded frame by frame. So if you have a good connection you get punished.

The game runs like shit, the hit registration is bad, the movement feels like bad with ranger.

I might make some webms later but there's a lot of info on the screen that I'll have to mask out.

I hadn't heard about heavier champions being underpowered. Are you sure about that or could it be that the impression is aided by good players all choosing fast characters (for fun)?

Bad netcode doesn't make me panic yet, that's expected with an unfinished multiplayer game. Lag advantage only worries me slightly because it's typical of console games and I still don't trust the "PC only" marketing quotes by Tim W. Never will trust that fucker again after nuDoom.

The extra zoom damage is like a parody of COD gameplay and needs to go. Zero compromise, as long as that's in I literally won't play the game. And same for rocket launcher delay, not really an excuse for it. Maybe they made rockets server side and it's actually lag? It can't stay that way, whatever is causing it. But I'd be willing to overlook it since it sounds like an honest mistake, not deliberate design fuckup.

Overwatch isn't a class shooter or a hero shooter, it's literally a moba in first person view. Aim doesn't even factor in at top500, the whole game is focused around ability co-ordination like an MMO or league/dota. People who think Overwatch is like TF2 or any other shooter are retarded.

it's like the devs forgot about hitboxes completely. the whole stat system is supposed to exist so fast characters are weaker and easier to kill while slower characters with less control are harder to kill. however it's the complete opposite because of the hitboxes, the fast characters are the hardest to kill because they are the size of toothpicks and the heavy characters get sliced up like chocolate cake on a 5 year olds birthday party.

it's nothing impressive skill-wise(my lg is bad), but the point is to show a general example of the elements are play.

Scalebearer is better than people give him credit for due to how many long hallways there are on the new maps. Clutch will be played in CTF/objective modes due to lol reinhardt shield.

It's really just lizard waifu that has no reason to exist.

People are undervaluing how much extra health the heavies have. A fresh Scalebearer has more total health than an Anarki that just picked up a mega.

Right now the difference in hitboxes are exaggerated due to poor hitreg. If they can fix that issue the value of heavies will be more apparent.

also to add some information on the gameplay: all graphic settings were set to low, except texture quality was set to high. render scale 100%, 1920x1080, fov was set to the lowers, which is 110 ( slider goes from 110 to 130 iirc). gameplay was very smooth. didnt have a fps counter but it felt like 200+, but the game had some 1-2 second freezes occasionaly. my rig: i7 6700k @4ghz, MSI GTX 1070, 32GB DDR4 2800Mhz. Also, sorry for the video stuttering. I render with Vegas Pro 14.0 and record with shadowplay. Shadowplay uses a vriable framerate which fucks with vegas really bad. makes it look like half the framerate sometimes. If anyone here has got some questions related to the qc beta, i can leak some stuff.

All you youngsters don't know why the old timers get that look of betrayal in their eyes when people bring up Unreal Tournament; UT2k4 was both THE twitch FPS and the last twitch FPS, because everyone else didn't even try competing after it came out and switched to ploddy pew pew Call of Duty clones with faggot characters that can't even double jump, let alone allow you to set the variable on your server to allow for infinite jumps if they can keep the timing right. This is a cringeworthy and shit writeup but this general isn't going to last. QC is horrible and there's not enough activity to keep this afloat on Veeky Forums. UT4 is kill, QL is QL, and the other little arena shooters have their own niche communities elsewhere. Might as well stick to /vr/ or something.

i was playing on 1600 DPI / 0.12 sens. I'm not a quake player as you may see by my Gamesense/Movement. I'm an active Top 500 Overwatch Player and used a formula i found on reddit to convert my OW sens to QC (1600/2 in OW)

Not just for when the quad spawns, but even just when it's on the map. I specifically remember turning a corner once, the game hitched, and all of a sudden I was staring down a dude with the quad and rightly got fucked

It doesn't matter if Quake Champions sucks, Skyrim and Fallout guys did it, so everyone is gonna be making arena FPS's with more of a twitch approach than most AAA FPS's we've seen lately.

Don't forget, Blizzard invented team based FPS's using the novel idea that video game characters can do things real people can't. That was a total game changer.

sierra shut down the devs after it came out and it was propped up by the community with mods for years until sierra released it for free to hype up tribes vengeance which was shit
then hi-rez made a watered down f2p version of the game with no real mod support or extra gamemodes and it was just a watered down CTF

Yep, I actually switched to fighting games a couple years back to get that fast paced gameplay fix, but i've been playing QC and even though it has a lot of flaws I'll support it all the way so the genre can be populated again

you need VA (or any other recognizable audio cue) when anarki does his heal action or you won't know around corners when an opponent anarki heals himself. you don't need any of the spawn or frag VA, they're just categorically out of place as they don't transport valuable information.

same for the announcer, some information is crucial like quad coming up, other lines are completely useless like "triple kill".

I want both activated, just trimmed of the fat. How can a "game designer" think it's a good idea to mix information with random noise like this?

You're right, I forgot about Marty. Is he a programmer? I mean, they all are, but does work in that capacity? Seemed like he was more of a manager as well, plus he's on the Doom team and I'm sure they're busy making Doom 2 singleplayer now, not QC.

This game isn't even made by id alone, it's made with Saber doing unknown amounts. Has to be significant, otherwise noone would officially acknowledge. Tons of outsourcing deals go completely unreported these days.

nuDoom 2 could just be in preproduction and a good portion of id might be working on QC but i have a feeling the slavs are doing most of the work

it's very obvious in general when someone is not "a quake player" yet. spawning and moving towards enemies/combat -> all it takes to identify a noob. it's easy to forget just how much of quake meta is completely alien to the average fps player. in all other games at spawn is the strongest you ever get so it's ideal to jump into combat as fast as possible. you have full health and ammo, all you can improve at that point is to seek a favorable position. although that's already one step up over regular FPS zombie behaviour which is just run where the enemies are and start shooting when you see them.

slavs must be doing important engine work, technical graphics, optimization etc. while id really only holds on to artistic and other design decisions, I think. i would imagine the QC team at id has more members doing business spreadsheets than anything to do with game development.

The latency issue comes with everyone being put into a worldwide server.

There are some general bugs, lightning gun beams become invisible when you're being fired upon, the game will sometimes stutter for a second. For example, if anyone picks up the quad the first time in a match then your game will often stutter.

Just sitting on the menu maxes out my 4670k / 4.0GHz and my gtx970 stays on 90%, reckon they need to optimize a lot of stuff.

The fat characters seem weak. Nyx has something like max 75hp / 50armour compared to a fat characters having 150/100, but the fatties are so much easier to land shots on. That said, when people get really good at aiming, then a 75hp character is going to die quick.

Game is really fun despite being stuck with forced 10-man deathmatch-only for now.

Only quick-ish way is to spend your funbux on backpacks and hope you get enough armour parts to breakdown. You shouldn't waste cash on renting champs anyway, you should easily get 3 for free within a couple day.
