Swap based AU's are rarely interesting unless you do something like Pumpkin did where she made the minor characters like the Snowdrake family into the roles of the Dreemurr's.

Can't really think of any interesting pairings in Underswap. I mean, there's flowey swapped with temmie, but that's just stupid.

I don't hate the undyne writefag, it's a good thing that someone's still doing fics. I don't mind the memes either, because they're usually more amusing, than hurtful, somewhere on the level of skull, when people found out about his ending. but the level of devotion towards this one writer by the /trash/ regulars passing by here is really starting to approach some serious bootlicking levels

Shame, really. Stuff like Arctictale, Underkeep, Underdream, even Tribetale right now, are all aesthetic-focused and are actually pretty decent with some minor occasional gaffs.

Maybe the lack of a story isn't there to ruin it, see: storyshift, but they're almost always a delight to see art for.

OP here, I wasn't intending to deride other AUs - Tribetale is downright beautiful - just noting that in my experience a lot of the community around Swap AUs have disproportionate focus on one pair of characters while the others are comparitively neglected, and I was curious if that's an accurate assessment..

If you're looking strictly at Swap AUs, sort of. Storyshift tried, but kinda failed, Underswap is best left unsaid, Altertale is maximum oversoriel, but those are really the only very big ones I can recall. Stuff like Inverted Fate or Altered Destiny play around with swaps as well, but with more of an ensemble focus.

While there are a lot of swap AUs on paper, most don't really make it beyond the idea-phase

Toriel, you probably need to consult a podiatrist after cramming your large feet into such tiny shoes. You've probably done yourself some damage. Look at procuring some custom shoes better shaped to fit your feet, as odds are most human manufacturers aren't equipped to make shoes that would fit.

I like the aesthetically focused AUs but Tribaltale hasn't grabbed me, the art's visually interesting but otherwise, eh.
Also I dislike Sans/Frisk so when I realised they're taking it that direction it lost some points with me.
