What made PS1-era Gran Turismo so damn comfy?
What made PS1-era Gran Turismo so damn comfy?

Nostalgia
This.
The feeling of comfy 100% comes from your nostalgia goggles.
Despite that it's still fun but yes, the comfy shit is just nostalgia.
Racing modifications
>Muh Mitsaibaru menĂº song
because it was one of the first of its kind
yeah there was stuff like need for speed where you could race super cars but gran turismo had all kinds of random cars and if you were lucky a version of your car might even be in it
you could also mod the cars unlike the early need for speed games
also nostalgia
I'm a Gran Tusimo 4 fag and I have hundreds of hours
Is there any new car game that comes close? I was thinking Forza Horizon 3 for the car customization
I played it last year for the first time(never had a ps1 back in the day)
It it comfy af
To name a few.
>Pioneering a complete license system with several tests
>Real sense of progress due to that (advancing to new categories was nuts and you would get destroyed if not prepared)
>Real sense of owning cars thru menu layouts (drop a car at your garage before buying a new one)
Even though it was a clearly focused Japanese product it made it worldwide. Masterpiece
>Hundreds of hours
I think most of us even hit thousand on GT back then user

>be young me
>uncle brings Gran Turismo over to show his nephew
>his save file is in contention with his brother on fastest lap times etc
>he loads it up and goes off to do something
>less than 1 minute later I'm asking for mom because the game doesn't work
>I deleted his save file
I still have that game too.
It makes the reflection on your paint reappear, baka.
When I first started playing, it was my present for my 7th birthday.
I did the sunday cup and sold the demio enough times to buy the Castrol supra as I didn't click that having a different license meant you could do more stuff. I just assumed 'free' meant free entry, no fee.
I then promptly came to the realization that going faster did not necessarily mean having more power.
Also, I was the fucking king of Autumn ring mini for exactly that reason above.
I would just buy the new Mitsubishi GTO or Supra, all turbo kits and upgrades, and win every race despite rocketing into every wall with my 1000HP+ machine.
>Imblying I don't still pour thousands of hours into it.
Trial Mountain is my jam.
Is it possible to be exceptionally good at GT1 with just the PS controller or do you really need the steering wheel/ pedals?
>Garbage
>As Heaven is Wide
IRL night driving song for me today.
The GTO was too fucking heavy and the R33s suffered from godawful turbo lag, along with only having 5 gears was never fun in the final races.
I cannot stop driving the Cerbera LM. The Concept Car LM would still be my carfu if it didn't shake like a motherfucker on anything but straight road.
Why couldn't we have gotten the Japanese menu themes though?

Thankfully GT4 remixed it a bit and featured it as well.
Nothing will make me laugh harder than this from GT3 though
