What would Veeky Forums change about the new 86?

Other than changing the front because it looks angry, what would Veeky Forums change and what are somethings you do like about it?

TRD turbo
Thats it

FA25 instead of FA20.

But European displacement taxes ruin everything as usual.

2nd,

A turbo option is all that is needed to break it our of meme tier.

2jz in it

don't even care if its turbo

I would probably add a turbo, but I like the aggressive look of it in red.

>make it the pre-facelift 86 again
>spoiler from the factory (delete as free option)
>option for trackworthy Brembos and 18" wheels with 225 Michelin PSS
>softer front swaybar

I would prefer it if the manufacturer used the automobiles effluvium to forcefully increase the maximum amount of air, and therefor fuel avaliable to the engine.

>keeping shit flat engine
No.

Put a 200hp rotary in it.
Modern FC.

Needs either a V6 from Lexus...

...or a boosted 2AR FE from the tC

exactly. It does not need more cylinders. It does not need a new front end. It just needs a factory turbo option

Turbo option so benchracers can stop whining.
Less weight.
That's about it.

Camber correct kits front and rear to tune out the positive camber, BRZ front bumper, 5 axis rear spoiler, better looking and better fitted wheels, unequal length header, full exhaust, ECUTEK Stage 2 tune, clutch spring mod. It doesn't need to be a mustang killer. It just needs a little visual customization and a tune to warm up the motor. And the Subaru burble.

that looks like a whole new car. does it really need "stage 2" without things like cams?

Liftback. BRZ STi with actual STi engine.

Buy a BRZ instad

Their stage 2 tune only needs a full exhaust. That one has a bodykit and other shit, just a good picture of the spoiler.

stupid stages are hard to understand. why cant they just make a tune based on what you have?

>all these nignogs crying about "muh power"
It's not a power car. Think about it like a Miata. Does a Miata *need* more power and do most people expect or want a Miata Turbo or Super version to ever be released? No. They are both entry level sports cars with good handling and purposefully engineered power levels.

Praise the lift back, savior of small dollar sports cars that will be now bought by normies because it is semi practical.

This is a tune you buy, not something you get custom tuned.

Normalfags need to understand that a sports car shouldn't be like their Cuck Utility Vehicle. It's not supposed to be practical.

If you make a jack of all trades sports car it's going to underwhelm anybody that cares about the "sports" part of it.

T. Never owned a liftback
They're fucking awesome because they're a sports car, but the glass lifting up and the seats folding down give them loads of storage space.

The only reason not to offer an option with more power is because it would make the car worse. Please elaborate to me now how a BRZ WRX with 265 hp and slightly improved suspension, brakes and tires would be worse.

lower price to $16,000

>Please elaborate to me now how a BRZ WRX with 265 hp and slightly improved suspension, brakes and tires would be worse.
It would be more expensive for one thing

im a normal guy and i cant see why you need a car for sports. even a "tame" bike like this gets any need for speed out of my system. most of the time i like my luxury car, for the reasons that its not sporty.

so if i feel like speed, somehow i think a bike has more of a raw feel, not as distilled as a 86 or other sports car. not sure if i explained how i feel, but the appeal of a sports car is lost on me

I care about normalfags subsidizing fun small cars that wouldn't otherwise exist. The gt86 is going to be one generation and done, why? Because it's fucking impractical and normies don't buy it. Add 25 pounds and minus 1% chassis rigidity to put a list back hatch on it and it will sell 3x as many and have a second gen because you can actually have it as your one car that can carry ladders n shit out the back. I have both a s13 240sx coupe and hatch, difference is night and day in terms of practicality while performance is essentially identical.

Its simple

for 26k it should have about 50 more HP imo, this can be done easily with a turbo because the FA20 in this is the same one in the WRX and we know it takes a turbo well.

If not the car's cost should drop to 23k-24k.

I think liftbacks have died for safety, not rigidity. Is there even a liftback still being produced?

Good for you. But a car is totally different from a bike. A bike is more raw while a car is more refined.

Normalfags still wouldn't buy it. They'd still flock to SUVs like they have been for years.

No what was said was "worse" the car itself being worse or the price because the price is highly fluid because of how fucking jewy toyota and subaru can be

For a while the BRZ was the same cost as a WRX

...

I wouldn't do a tune on a new car because I'm not voiding the warranty on it

its not only about rawness, in a car you are pushing the cars limits, on the bike, you are pushing your own, moreso.

its more of a challenge to ride a bike at 9/10 than a car. my god i suck at expressing myself.

I get what you mean now. I think the heightened risk factor adds to that feeling.

Your loss. Toyota and Subaru engineers know fuck all about engines. Only an aftermarket brand that popped up a year ago to sell shit to vapelords really knows how to make the most of the fuel and spark maps.

Why do I see SO many people buying the GT86/FRS? Why don't people buy the BRZ?

There is literally nothing wrong with bolt on exhausts, the BRZ, or referring to chassis codes

>Your loss

of a 3 year warranty bumper to bumper, thats worth way more than a fucking tune

Good meme pic

Neither would I, but it's an option. I don't think this would decrease reliability in any way, it's just telling the ECU to take advantage of an uncucked exhaust.

>Toyota and Subaru engineers know fuck all about engines
Please, do tell about your extensive engineering engines experience

>majority of your car knowledge is from youtube/forums
This is just the nature of knowledge nowadays. I use the internet as a primary source of knowledge for everything I do, as does likely anyone here.

>herp derp engineers r dumb
No, they knew exactly what they were doing. They made the engine to mod, they knew mostly real enthusiasts that knew their shit would buy the car, so they left lots of options. You can individualize the car in many ways to suit your driving style. For instance I am a togue specialist, so I have 2 inches of drop and some camber (tasteful amount), cold air intake, Invidia exhaust, and a Stage 3 tune making about 300hp (I am more experienced so can handle this amount of power, the car out of the box is set up for a mid level driver so 200hp is more than enough).

>forced induction or pigfat engines

MORE RPMS. Everyone has done forced induction now and you may as well get a Golf R and start vaping if you go down the turbo from the factory route.
Toyota should have teamed up with Honda instead of Subaru. GT86 with 9500rpm redline Honda witchcraft?

Make it scream. If I had one and the money for an engine swap, it'd be getting a obscenely high revving N/A.

Replying to obvious bait.

wew

>more RPMs
>have to beat the piss out of the engine to get any power

check your autism, spergs

>the impotent cuck rage behind this picture

Are the chads in their corvettes bullying you at the local meet?

Ace A/350 4-2-1 Header + Tune
Any Max Performance Summer Tires

There, fixed it.

>being content with a 3k powerband

See I can shitpost as well. The meme-86 is meant to be fun, if you turbocharge it you may as well add a DCT and oh shit it's twice as heavy and four times the price, except now no ones going to pay it because it's in German car territory.

>you're autistic because you won't void the warranty you paid for

So you would rather pair up with Honda, who have totally ditched VTEC for Tarbos, and slap a 1.6L POS in there? No no no. It simply isn't done.

No, you're autistic because with the fucking vape comments that user was obviously not serious, and yet you need to jump to defend your previous godmobile.

Try reading this again, without the first portion, and ask me again how I know you stopped reading after the second sentence.

> Only an aftermarket brand that popped up a year ago to sell shit to vapelords really knows how to make the most of the fuel and spark maps.

>UEL header

No. The best header out right now with the best gains in torque and horsepower is the Ace headers which are all Equal Length.

B-BUT MUH BURBLE

"never driven track day" needs to be changed to "gone to one track day"

The difference is minimal enough I'd rather have muh burble.

I prefer the looks of the FRS over the BRZ. My car is identical to a BRZ besides the suspension, and I prefer that the FRS is more prone to oversteer

With a 12:1 compression ratio lulz

Problem?

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_F20C_engine

2 litres, 240bhp, 9000rpm redline. Already exists!

even the K20z4 from the generation 8 civic type R had 200bhp and an 8k redline, that'd be far more fun to drive than a turbo 4.

I have a BMW turbo 4 at the moment, it'd eat an 86 alive but boy is it soulless.

Daily reminder that the FA20 is the most powerful NA 4 cylinder you can buy in today's market.

You know that the FA20DIT exists right?

Essex v6

your post is too much for Veeky Forums tards, it went right over their heads

MSRP now 35k

Cossie YB m8

Have you seen the weight of a WRX vs a BRZ. There is a rule that applies to every new car. Power, weight, cost. Can only pick 2. WRX is power and cost. BRZ is weight and cost.

The new Honda civic hatchback......

Except no, hatchback increases the weight by 100-150lbs.

And Corvette and 370z

Because Subaru is contractually bound to badge 5 out of 6 cars as FR-S/86. The rest is supply and demand.

I'm starting to like the new front bumper, only thing I'd do to it is maybe add that japanese TRD version bumper in pic related.
I think it's perfect the way it is; simple rwd coupe, 200hp, 2 liter engine so I won't get raped by taxes here in europe, looks aesthetic, fairly cheap to buy new considering the other monstrosities out there.

I currently drive a 100hp 10-11 sec 0-60 FWD shitbox and I can get a lot out of it. I have a lot of fun with it on the twisty forest and mountain roads around here and I can only imagine I'd have even more fun with a 200hp RWD car.

I sometimes speed at like 180kmh and I imagine the toyobaru goes pretty effort free to 150kmh which is all that I need considering the type of roads I drive around here. I also have no interest in drag racing or rolling drag racing or anything involving accelerating in a straight line because I get no enjoyment from it (a lot of the kids around here do it though and seem to enjoy it, it's just not for me).

So all in all, I think it's a great car and I'm genuinely happy that it exists since here I can't get access to any older RWD cars that aren't beaten to shit or destroyed by modders. Only other option I'd have is some e46 BMW but to get the amount of power the toyobaru has (along with an LSD) I'd have to get something with a bigger than 2L engine and that's gonna cost me a lot of money yearly in taxes.

I'm open to any alternatives to this car that you guys can give me, but at the moment, this seems to be exactly the car I'd want.

lol forgot the pic of the TRD one with the front bumper I like

>Does a Miata *need* more power and do most people expect or want a Miata Turbo or Super version to ever be released?
Yes and yes
155hp from a 2.0L is unacceptable for a sports car in 2017

Go buy a Rustang

I really see nothing wrong with the 86. I'd wager most people that complain about the power just want to stoplight race and couldn't actually use the 86's racing dynamics to their full potential on a real track. It's one of the few true modern driver's cars.

going around the car comunity around here and seeing these jerkoffs standing next to their cars while they blast their faggot music and going to """""drag race""""" every now and then makes me realize that 90% of """"car people"""" especially young ones between 18-25 are a bunch of idiots.
much like how in the skate scene you have posers with expensive deck setups and brand clothing and all that that can't even kickflip, you also have this phenomenon in the car scene. People either straight up buying fast cars but never actually bother to learn how to drive fast or just buying cars to brag and benchrace
>muh car makes 500hp yo getting 3 sec 0-60 fo shizzle
not even joking, this is what they do.
every time I take one of these faggots for a ride on a road that has actual corners I shit all over them in a way less powerful car.

getting back to the toyobaru, I feel that the car can be very good if used as a momentum car. if you keep up your speed (and it seems easy with its low center of gravity and suspension setup) you can dominate easily.
but shit like this is too hard for the casual normie fags who just want to step on the gas and feel their car take care of them.

Making it a nose heavy understeering pig.
Ew

Stages are retarded. They should actually have a proper description.

Damn user, true words if i ever hear from them.

Its like, i like initial D, but because i watched someone take a shit car, and through driving skill alone brought out an untapped potential of a symbiotic relationship between a car and its driver

I think everyone should start with a FWD until they get used to how weight transfers, and how suspension feels when you fool around, only because if you start loosing control, chances are if you panic throttle you can pull back and youll probably wreck less, and if you do its ok because its a shitbox.

TL:DR
Learn to drive before you drive fast

>through driving skill alone brought out an untapped potential of a symbiotic relationship between a car and its driver
Gayest shit I've read all day.

>90% of people between 18-25 are a bunch of idiots.
FTFY

I mean i baited you, so guess that makes you the fag here

But really though, do you not feel your car as an extension of your body as you drive?

I take it you haven't written your diary entry for the day yet.

>do you not feel your car as an extension of your body as you drive?
I do, but I don't try to make driving poetry.

>bolt on exhaust
Why

that doesn't mean it isn't true though

Symbiotic relationship? Stop doing drugs you hippy.

The car can't operate without the driver. The driver can't get transported without the car.

The driver maintains the car, and the car keeps the driver cozy.

There you're going all gay again.

I would give it a turbo lsx. Fuck any """""sports car""""" that's slower than a goshdamn minivan.

>slower than a goshdamn minivan
Please show me a minivan that is faster than the 86 and isn't the R63 AMG.

The new Chrysler Pacifica is faster than an automatic 86. This has been proven
