Is GTA considered a "driving game"

When driving games are discussed GTA usually isn't brought up. Also what is ur favorite car from the series

The shitboxier, the better.

GTA's driving physics are pretty fantastic, more focused on spectacle than realism. 4 has the most mundane ones and it's still not very real.

it annoys me more than it should that literally 99% of fully upgraded cars & bikes top out at 120-130mph

This. There's no point in even buying any of the supercars when you can get a cheaper sports car and put a turbo in it.

As fun as it is to push the Blista Compact to its limit on the freeway, the Sultan RS is GOAT.

My favorite car by far is the new progen GP1. I honestly don't know what makes driving in the game so fun though... and I'm usually a sucker for realism

Always loved the Banshee, sonic car but it doesn't look as ridiculous or full of angles like most of the others like the Cheetah and Infernus. GTA V has really fun racing but it's extremely arcade and it's stuck behind the grindwall, I think Veeky Forums would talk about it more if you didn't have to play for so long just to get some cars, and even longer to upgrade them to respectable performance.

You can fix this on PC, and it will make you wonder why they bothered to ever put the limit in. Worst decision they made by far.

GTA V is my goto for hooning around in Twingos, Ladas and Miatas. Sandbox games are nice for casual driving and a great addition to standard racing games.

yeah i'm android scum so I never got the social club app when the game originally released and never bothered to check if they added it to the google play store.

i didn't have it either, that's old as fuck from their socialclub website

>is GTA a driving game
No, GTA is an ancap simulator with vehicles
The in-game speedometer isn't accurate.

That's because it's not realistic in terms of driving at all. Also the sultan rs is the shit.

not just going off the speedo, have you ever done the top speed freemode challenge? it tracks everyone's speed and i hardly ever see people break 140mph.

you are like a little babby

watch this

I would say yes:
>has Auto in the title referencing cars
>there's a whole lot of driving in the game
>lots of attention to detail when it comes to the cars
>you rely on cars to survive most of the game

[VGW]

My favorite car is the Infernus from GTA IV because its not directly based on a real car, it's more of a custom original design, even though it takes parts from the Pagani Zonda and Murcielago.
I don't like it too much when the other cars look almost exactly like their real life versions.

I haven't played GTA V but I noticed they added that camera inside the car with the whole new first person mode thing. Do you see your character shifting gears? I mean I know most cars are automatic but still.

I'm sort of the opposite, I like it more when it looks like real cars because it feels more real.

No I don't think so

This, that's what I liked about GTA IV, the traffic actually felt like real traffic, unlike GTA V where every other car is a super car.

what about this. also who ever wants to, add me as a friend buttface_monkey maybe we can make our own crew as well

...

yeh that does doesnt know

You hear the shifting sound but your hands stay on the wheel the whole time

>revised driving physics mod for GTA V
>story missions no longer work
GTA IV is pretty great with just a speed limiter removal

No, it's america for christ's sake, they all use automatics so there's no reason to add a changing gears animation (I would love a mod for that)

>tfw I daily drive an Albany Emperor in real life

the taxi cab from Liberty City was the shit

The speed limiter is there to make the map feel bigger than it is

friendo, the albany emperor draws style cues from the 70s and 80s fleetwoods (which are body-on-frame, RWD, v8s), not the tiny FWD one you drive.

Banshee
Yakuza Stinger
Borgnine Cab

And the Dodo. Not really a car but I spent more time than I'd be willing to admit dicking around with it.

>Tfw hackers give me $50,000,000
The new Gunrunning update looks fucking gay as shit.

your car does too

It really triggers my autism knowing that they still haven't added street address signs in GTA V. I mean, they did it with Midnight Club: LA which was another Rockstar game.

Mine has a V8 and is over 17 feet long. 80s DeVilles would have only been marginally longer.

it does. so does gta 4

What GTA cars have you owned IRL guys?

>GTA Vice City era Sentinel (BMW E28)
>GTA III era Kuruma (Mitsubishi Diamante)
>GTA IV Feroci (Lexus GS)

>unlike GTA V where every other car is a super car
What do you expect if you only drive around in rich areas?

On gtavmods there's a really nice handling mod which makes the driving a lot more realistic. It also changes the damage. That plus the enhanced native trainer revived the game for me. Over 700hrs in singleplayer

>tfw you dorifto a prius

>go to the SUPER SEKRIT SPOT
>steal the sultan rs
>suddenly every other car is also the sultan rs

even the shithole ghetto was full of more mid-tier cars than low tier

Have you seen the real world? Every one is financing cars they can't afford

pic related is my favorite because I'm a Hondafaggot with a CRX

Not him but I guess not. As a polack I've never actually been to the US, but in gta 4 everywhere that wasn't Algonquin was full of beaters. I guess it was 2008 back then

Yeah 2008 was the recession, everyone's taking crazy loans out these days
Dat debt-based economy

Yeah my bloody sister took out a fucking 200000 polands mortgage for a flat in the city but then she lost her cushy and well paying job due to substance abuse, and I'm really pissed off about it because she's 30 and depressed and living with my parents again.
I swear I'll never take out a loan in my life, even for a snickers bar.

As does your face. HEH, nothing personnel, kiddo.

Or you can take a loan and not have a life that can crumble to pieces at any moment.

I wouldn't say it's a "driving game" but they focus a lot on it. Like for instance, Benny's Custom Autos or whatever it is on GTA Online. That's pretty neat. Plus I try and find cool color combinations for pearlescent on my cars.

>GTA III Era Kuruma:
it's actually based mainly off a dodge intrepid with some hints of a Toyota Camry
>GTA IV Feroci:
Why does everyone keep saying it's based off a Lexus? It looks way more like a lates 90s Honda Accord.

>enter freemode
>make beeline for abandoned mansion
>acquire sultan RS
>pop all tires
>you are now faster than an infernus

Yeah, but litterally everyother car in non ghetto los santos is some exotic sports car. It should be more luxury cars with some newer econo boxes mixed in.
Yes, every car in that areas is either the
>Asea (Toyota Eco)
>Pinto (smart car)
>that one European car I can't remember the name of, but shouldn't even spawn in traffic anyway
>Emperor (Cadillac fleetwood)
And Christ the Emperor spawns all over the map way to many times, it's ridiculous.
By beaters do you mean just older cars, or actual rusty cars? Because when I play GTA IV the rusty cars only spawn in Bohan (the Bronx) for me. It's probably something to do with the game itself. Also GTA IV was made in 2006/2007. Before the ressesion.

did her mortgage make her take drugs or something?

I wish they still made the Intrepid. Got a lot of memories with that car. My mom had one.

>try to install gta 4 because of muh car handling nostalgia
>game won't register online at all, not even manually
Welp, guess I'll have to pirate it then, fucking cockstar.

It's no Project Cars, but for what it is, the driving, variety of cars and different handling, etc. is really nice. I just wish they'd at least add a flappy paddles manual option.

I wonder why in 17+ years nobody made a manual shift mod for GTA 3+

Even iv never got one

V's map in a new midnight club would be great.

Oh well Forza horizon shits over both anyway

>When driving games are discussed GTA usually isn't brought up
There are driving simulator games and driving spectacle games. GTA is a "spectacle" type game. It is not realistic and is more about how to be a "smooth criminal" than in practicing driving skills to become better at a particular car model.

Forza is one of the best ones I've ever played. I've got Forza 6 and FH3

I daily drive a stainer IRL

>with how cheap CVPIs are, you drive such an old one

Nigga, why?

>It looks way more like a lates 90s Honda Accord.

its obviously a Mark II for the most part tho

>he plays online as a girl

What a faggot.

kek

Not even a cute one!

This is bait, right? Has to be.

you do realize the Lexus people are talking about is just the Aristo but for the US market right

Used to own a Declasse Premier.

Yes I know that very well and I just happened to post an Aristo since it's the same body anyway.

What I was implying is why are you saying the Feroci is an old Accord or a Mark II when it clearly is an S140 Aristo/GS300?

nigga its a GTA car its a mash up of shit

its a GS ES Mark II

I used to zone out with GTA 4 driving around following all the rules of the road, not speeding, stoping at lights, etc. Wish it had turn signals.

My favourite in gta5 was the tesla roadster (whatever they called it). Crazy acceleration off the line and quiet so you could soak in the ambiance. Iirc it was crazy heavy, but that made it pretty planted too.

driving around like that in GTA V is somewhat comfy, especially with a manual gearbox

>filtering between traffic on a bike
>hooning on the touge
>cruising on the highway

nice to see an old crown vic. havent seen one of those in a while

I miss it. I also love how rare it was in Vanilla GTAIV.

>brother playing V
>tell him to go get a futo
>ugh u cant steal cars u gotta buy them
>whatever go buy one i'll race you
>u cant beat me in that piece of shit i got the fastest car in the game
>pulls out some oscar meyer weiner mobile looking thing

Don't you just love that the game is called GRAND THEFT AUTO, but you can't steal expensive cars and store them in your garage because you have to legally buy them?

Only because they introduced MicroPayments™

The Futo is one of the things you can steal though, still have to go to a garage and put a tracker on it, but you can still use it without buying one.

Now be good goy and buy Shark™ Cards

Gta 3 had a very basic scripting infrastructure. Theres not a lot you can do with it..

My absolute favorite has to be the Dinka Hakumai. Sad they didn't bring it to GTA V. The pop-ups are so good.

youtube.com/watch?v=ihUZBiq3Tfg

I N F E R N U S

my absolute negro.
The Hakumai is so fucking comfy, it also performs great
>playing MP races in IV
>sedan category
>oh_boy.png
>take trusty hakumai
>others all take the sentinel
>first turn
>they all understeer into the curb, overturning their bimmers
>hit the apex just right and speed the fuck out of there
>led them by half a lap the whole race
knowing how to drive in this was very rewarding.

Dinka Jester is my waifucar

gta 4 had probably the best physics of any gta. i'd say better physics than most racing games that werent simulators. better than forza imo. cars actually understeer, the road doesnt get shorter with speed, damage is realistic at least visually, the weight of the car rolls like real suspension, etc

This guy has good taste. Vanilla ones had the trucoat

there are too few car mods that fit in the lore of the games desu

Pic isn't a photo of my car but it's pretty much the exact same car, right down to the color. Found it for $1300, passed smog from the get go. CVPI's normally go for around $2500 to $5000. I'm a broke ass nigga.

I
