but what can we do, if FO4 idiots leave we will all die it s like a disease that keeps you alive, is there such a thing?
Jayden Ortiz
I'm starting a new F:NV playthrough.
Are there any good charts / forms to help me put together a new character? (I.e name, likes, dislikes)
Would any of you guys be willing to help me make a new character?
I'm good at rping, I'm just shit at making the character from the get go.
Thanks in advance

Well I can tell you about my personal preference.
I'd say stack up on intelligence and luck special. Your gun wont jam and you get max amount of skillpoints to allocate for level with high intelligence. With high luck you can also get ridiculously easy caps in Casinos when gambling. And if you used a couple of perks to raise your endurance >up to 7 you can get all the implants, making your character even stronger.
Dont waste perk points on those extra xp perks.
That way you can almost get all skills maxed out before you hit levelcap, if you took your time looking for skillbooks.
That will suck for melee characters if you fancy those, but you can get trough almost all skillchecks and speech options.
>Laser weapons are awesome, but with certain perks, when the floor is covered with gooified enemies, looting them becomes a pain in the ass
Jose White
>wonder why Fallout 1 and 2 are nothing but single-storey flat-roofed buildings >they're actually the skeletons of huge skyscrapers cut off for player convenience >hence the name "Boneyard" >mfw
James Morris
Reminder that Synths and Muties are not allowed on /fog/.

>Fallout 4 is an intentionally vertical game >Sound does not diminish upward or downward
Adrian Richardson
Only way I could think to do it >Have 2 separate guns that are scripted to be swappable with no (or a short) animation and dropping one drops the other
Seems like more work than it'd be worth.
Chase Bennett
>Raiders attack >Settlers run to my armory to equip themselves with my stored weapons and ammo
holy fuck, i didnt know this was a thing.
I just wish there was a way to make them put it all back afterwards

I should just redo the whole damn thing

Store stuff you care about in a "player home", like home plate.
Alternatively, have an empty settlement just for it.
Grayson Morales
Also in places like Shady Sands, they are adobe or "sandcrete" structures, so they wouldn't be very tall. Reno's buildings are multi-story atleast.
Play as a girl who is pretty, agile, and lucky, but is weak, dumb, and oblivious (strong CHA/AGI/LUK, poor STR/PER/INT). Tag Speech, Sneak, and Explosives. Play with a balance mod that makes thrown weapons rely on STR, and have weak STR and PER so she loves using explosives but she's actually bad it it. Be a kleptomaniac. Go full House or Yes Man, befriend the Boomers, and blow everything up at the end of Lonesome Road. Bonus points to use Sexout and Unethical Deeds, and play the game like a run-or-rape game.
Joshua King
literally do this senpai, pick a settlement that you like the aesthetics of or Spectactle Island because its secluded, though supply lines wont reach it and build yourself a nice comfy home.
Colton James
>Todd, should we hire some new programmers? The Gamebryo audio system is 2-dimensional from 2002 >Nah, nobody will notice.
Waitaminute... didn't sound propagation work just fine in Skyrim?
Elijah Wright
Does Fallout 4 support custom races yet?
Caleb Carter
You can pretty clearly distinguish buildings with actual roofs visible from ones that have been cut down to the lowest floor to help players navigate from an isometric perspective. Shady Sands has those sand igloos and Junktown has sheet metal and plank buildings with corrugated roofing.
Dylan Rivera
Or use the mechanist's lair as it can't ever be attacked and is safe to store all food and water items.
Jeremiah Turner
Make up your own Fallout faction and briefly describe it.
>Tribals originating from Carolina/Georgia bumpkins and jive shuckers. They inhabit a joint collection of theme parks, using juryrigged water slides to quickly cover ground. Invaders, raiders and other offenders are sat on a ceremonial rollercoaster and driven around as a form of torture. Tribals dress up using old Halloween totally-not-Six Flags mascot costumes.
Jose Flores
supply lines reach Spectacle Island just fine for me.
>Notice the PA raider on the riptide has gone missing >Investigate, kill everyone on the barge >Nowhere to be found >huh. Maybe he fell in the water? >Go swimming, find him, loot him. >Die before I can get to the surface because encumbered swimming >Last save is before I killed the raiders above >Decide to leave it for later just because >Go back >PA Raider has despawned
Fuckin' eh.
Easton Cook
> Tribals originated from Chesapeake bay that believe that the mirelurk is the reincarnation of their god. They have gotten this notion since their surroundings had everything related with mirelurks picture. The rite of passage to adulthood is to survive a horrible rash on the legs (knowns as crabs coincidentially) They are armed white and blue gear (or if you wanna be not to 50s purple gear somehow) for their heavy forces while their lighter forces use a combination of white and orange. This is the only all black tribe in the wasteland.
Landon Foster
>super mutants who found a gym full of weights, protein powder and old bodybuilder posters >they wander around in leopard print speedos demanding people test their strength
Hunter Lopez
Chinese naval carrier stranded at sea when the bombs fell. The onboard staff bred over the years and ended up creating a mini society where they take many smaller boats out of the naval carrier to trade with the U.S. wastelands. They operate with merchants to sail around the coasts, getting hard-to-find stuff quickly. Radiation has made the ocean extremely dangerous though and their naval carrier is breaking down so they ask the player character to help them settle on land somehow. They're dirty commies though so they're pretty authoritarian, not very nice, look down on wastelanders despite trading with them often and are sneaky. They have at least one working fighter jet and a lot of high quality military equipiment (mostly stealth suit variants and stealth-oriented weapons.)
Grayson Campbell
would you?
Nathaniel Garcia
I tend to headcanon my characters as part of some Enclave-esque faction rebuilding the united states, making alliances between the various factions.
Like a combination of House and Minutemen I guess.
For example in 3 ideally what could have happened-
>Enclave and BOS team up after talking with President Eden and convincing them that the people of the wasteland are American citizens and as such should be protected, BoS end up more as a bunch of librarians with guns- which is fine, because there's now new tech being invented so they can hoard all the busted junk they want >this also closes the schism between the Outcasts and they rejoin, with the more idealistic Brotherhood members joining user's Mary-Sue Friendship Faction or the reformed Enclave >Naturally not all the Enclave is fine with this change, a bunch of them leave Raven Rock and set up shop again
Evan Ramirez
yes it s powerful but i dont feel bad ass carying it It s so fucking large I love me my medicine stick though
Colton Foster
The beast tamers
They tame beasts and put armor on them, and ride armored deathclaws into battle, and they use spears while riding them
Dominic Stewart
Wandering gatorclaws resulting from the Nuka-World ones breeding exponentially. But they're gene spliced and as a result highly intelligent (even if nobody knows it because they can't talk.)
Occasionally you'll see one in a settlement acting as a guard or something but like real alligators they are very solitary. They scare off looters and pretty much anybody they come across but are neutral, easily spooked by large groups of humans. Hate super mutants and ghouls, will rip them apart on sight. Can talk to deathclaws in limited capacity but deathclaws are assholes and don't usually listen.

basically the atom cats/tunnel snakes but an actual faction you can do shit for and once you help them enough you get your own tricked out wasteland car
Kevin Ross
Not really a faction but I wanted to see some raiders who force wastelanders to request food and supplies from the NCR or Legion, then secretly extort it all. They pretend to be the italian mob.
Lincoln Evans
you guys wouldn't happen to know if there's anything to remove the skulls in Automatron head parts in favor of a naked robot head, would you?
love the Gorgan Helm for Assaultrons but the skull is pretty ugly desu

Maybe Nifskope? I'm not sure if the skull is already part of it or not.

a raider gang thats origin isnt fully known >Found a massive hockey rink >Established a base of operations there >After studying what holotapes and reading there was, as well as looting the place they reorganize and equip themselves
>leader is now called "Coach" >Internal disputes are solved by elite force known as Referees, wearing distinkt black and white >Head referee wearing a distinctively coloured helmet >High ranking members wear heavy padding of goalie >troops wear player gear >travel around as "Lines" of 6 which have Wingers, Center and Defensemen and a Goalie in the lead >Larger raids are carried out by several Lines called a team >All of the gear has been in a raider fashion, jury rigged in many ways with reinforcing plates, but have that hockey look >non combatant members wear fan merchandise
>Common weapons include skate swords and axes, made from repurposed hockey skate blades and sticks
>Hockey pucks are carried as patches of honor and status symbols, worth several caps
One of their most terrifying weapons is a fucking Zamboni, used to bulldoze enemy fortifications. Slow, but heavily modified, it drags a fortified sled, which has a Line inside of it, ready to burst forward to attack the defenders of the settlement.
And this can be applied to many areas around the united states, sporting colours of the local team.
Jacob Ross
pic related, and Gorgon Helm*
Parker Sanchez
i love this idea, sounds silly enough to work. mine would probably be some kind of power armor monks group who want to unite the east and the west, and get their inspiration from 60s anime. they'd all have come from a satellite after it got shot down and have super unique power armor, all gaudy and extravagant.
Logan Thompson
>they mistake old bodybuilders for ancient super mutants >use it as evidence that it is their destiny to bully the scrawny humans >easily mistake muscular humans for other super mutants
Christian Murphy
The idea that immediately sprang to mind was to basically take the 2 versions of every gun part, combine them into 1 super-record, have that be the modification, and have it where the entries are switched between via an in-game key.
I don't know if that makes sense or not. But like, you have the variables for automatic and semi-automatic fire in the game already.
Aaron Flores
you gotta get clothes that have been converted for boob physics
Ian Reyes
Since I've never been to the institute, but I know how shit goes down for the most part...
Can someone tell me why Synths aren't non-hostile to the SS from the very start? Do they explain it? It seems like Shaun wouldn't want a report that includes "Oh by the way, your [parent] got pwned by a gen1 with a laser gun that can't hit the broad side of a barn in the wind today".
Jason Gutierrez
i remember there was a theory that Shaun couldn't just straight up help you, instead he had to edge the odds in your favor with Kellogg, the Courser in the Gunners Tower and just make everything look business as usual so you can reach him under the dupe that you've figured it all out yourself
well there's something to learn for the night, thanks Buff.
Austin Reyes
because I have a feeling that the player is a synth replacement. Set out there by Father, who wants to see what a Synth who thinks its people would do. A controlled experiment of sorts. It might even be a secret pet project that very little, if none of the other Institute staff know about. Thats why the Synths are hostile to you, like you're any other Wastelander.
The ravens are institude monitoring devices, and they're there, no matter where you go, they keep tabs on you for Father.
Its also a way for Father to feel some sort of parents love, which he has never had. Watch as the Synth who thinks is your parent, tries to find you.
Gabriel Martin
You're an experiment to see if you could survive the commonwealth.
Anthony Murphy
>People living in the destroyed ruins of buildings >Doesn't have fucking 200 year old trash and papers lying around all over the place
Something Bethesda should have noticed. Dumping garbage on everything is just lazy world design.
Tyler Butler
Some dude named Justin says they're hostile because...I think they wanted to 'test' you or those synths were only programmed to defend themselves and see anyone with a gun as a threat. I guess.
Christian Bennett
Ay yo what up its ya boy MC ready!!!

Nicholas Rogers
yeah i see that now

There's a mod I saw on Nexus that lets you "salvage" things you find in the wasteland similar to settlements.
>Boy I need rubber, too bad I can't take all these tires at this tire fire in the middle the dump
Or
>Boy I need a lot of nuclear material, too bad I can't salvage all the nuclear waste at the dumping facility
I'm kinda scared to use the mod though, sounds like it might cause corruption
Jose Ross
>because they need a massive amount of red meat daily they're the solitary reason there are no brahmin farmers in the region >a peaceful resolution to their quest is to convince them it's fine to supplement their gains with fish protein >a few months later you discover they've taken up whaling as it's clearly manlier than fishing >Behemoths begin appearing in the gym as the whale protein both supports sick gains on protein alone and has massive amounts of vitamins and rads >uniquely these Behemoths seem to have retained their mental faculties >Behemoth sea captains that use oil tankers as galleys rove the sea hunting down the white whale, a literal leviathan
David Hernandez
vs COACH! COACH! Hockey Raiders are coming! -"How far are they?" Just left their base with their Zambonis, on the other side of the Street! -"So we have three days to prepare."
A faction war like that would be kinda cool though. Especially if the player could choose sides.
Lucas James
>Guy selling bats in Diamond City doesn't know what baseball is >Everyone else seems to know what it is
What did they mean by this?
Brandon Lopez
Americans versus Canadians, man's oldest and most bitter enemies.
Anthony King
That actually sounds pretty rad.

Military people can be male and female, user
Maybe the war got so bad they even conscripted girls
Jaxson Baker
>Behemoths start getting banned from the gym because they can't fit inside it >proceed to wander the wasteland looking for an even larger gym >they freak everyone out and some end up getting shot to death >remaining super mutants must struggle with a terrifying, foreign concept: maybe you CAN get too huge

Boneyard Skavs that stripped the street level clean of anything salvageable to build and expand the town of Adytum. The bravest and craziest ones started scaling the precarious ruins of LA skyscrapers. Decades later they have created The Web, a vast cluster of highrise settlements with crisscrossing suspension bridges connecting the giant ruins of downtown LA far above street level.

Back when I streamed, NV my viewers and I kicked around the idea of a vault full of LARPers who took it too seriously, as a way to introduce the kind of medieval weapons and armor that inevitably get modded in in a more lore-friendly way.
Probably some kind of internal conflict brewed over the years like an evil "empire" taking over certain parts of the vault, or a rebellion against the "king" of the vault, but since it's all LARP equipment no one actually dies, and the player would have the option to show them how to sharpen their weapons or not.
Joseph Johnson
...
Lucas Lewis
LARPers in the Fallout Universe would probably do stuff based on the Unstoppables or Grognak.
Angel Evans
ay can I grab a link to your mods? I dont know where to get them

Is there a button to disable these LOD buildings?
Making it a real bitch to build anything.

Amish beardsnatchers. No longer non-violent but keep to themselves, mostly. Live as they did before the war, farming, some hunting. They remove the beards of their enemies, to emasculate them. Enemies without beards are for raping or scalping, often both.
Jayden Turner
I wish I knew how to actually implement the mod ideas I have. Currently trying to think through that firing mode thing.
So I think the setting is depending on a modifier known as bautomatic. TRUE means automatic, FALSE means semi-automatic. So really you bind the modifier to a hotkey as a toggle and you have a firing mode selector. Don't know how to do that, but even then you need to set things up so only the weapons that make sense to go automatic can go automatic. Again, I don't know how to do that, either.
Asher Butler
Nah, they don't actually do farming now, they're known for having primo chems.
>they wasted time animating this instead of giving us legitimate weapon animations
Christian Carter
One the plus side, none of the explosions from that thing hurt you.
On the negative, the string is rarer than mininukes and doesn't do as much damage as using 5 weaponized nuka quantum ammo would suggest.
Nathaniel Davis
would a person who hates blacks and other races be an outcasted petty weirdo in a new world where hating mutants and machines is the norm?
Parker Baker
Extremely so.
Brandon Howard
I use a mod that lets you make the string with rubber. I now have 2000 string.
Inside a dresser with the paddle itself because its kind of a silly meme weapon.
Jaxson Peterson
Fallout doesn't follow any real world conventions.
>"I hate those dark-skinned humans" >"Why?" >"They commit more violent crime" >"No they don't, every human is equally as stupid" >"You're right how silly of me, let's go drink from that stagnant two inch puddle that has remained irradiated for 250 years somehow"
Levi Evans
yes because niggers are the smaller fish to fry and life is hellish enough
anyone who works and isn't starting fights gets to live lynch-free in a Fallout settlement
Matthew Baker
Well Reballistic seems to have disappeared from the nexus. Are there any other good realisms mods that you guys use?
Tyler Cook
more like
>"I hate those dark-skinned humans" >"Why?" >"They commit more violent crime" >"But society collapsed in nuclear hellfire 200 hundred years ago and horrifying mutants roam the wastes, there is no concept of law and order in most of the world" >"ARE YOU TRIGGERED YET YOU GLOBALIST FEMINAZI SJW LIBTARD KEK?!?!?!?!" >"Give me all your shit or I'll shoot you."
Brandon Flores
Fuck off reddit.
Carson Barnes
I keep seeing Warframe leak into these threads.
Which is odd because Fallout and Warframe are my two great passions right now.
Mason Lopez
I was going for the "Fallout pre-war is not like the real world, much like how their radiation isn't like the real world, so their black people didn't commit disproportionate amounts of crime" angle, but you had to drag your phobia of /pol/ into it.
Dylan Ross
Everyone hates everyone Everyone includes blacks Ergo everyone hates blacks
Landon Reyes
Of all the horrors the Wasteland has birthed, what in the name of God...
Jonathan Cox
As I go through and unfuck the rats nest that is Hangman's Alley's navmesh it's occurred to me that other settlements are just as bad, if not worse.
Maybe I'll make an unfucked navmesh mod and push it to Nexus.

I'm trying to find massive mod overhauls for FO4, any suggestions?
Not looking for eye candy or tits/nudity overhauls, just something to make the game more difficult/aiming for realism.
