Hi Veeky Forums

Hi Veeky Forums
How can I tell if my electrical issues are a result of the battery or alternator?

In order to start my car it needs to be jumped, but then it will drive fine. Again, once the key is taken out of the ignition the car is dead. 97 Camry btw

Well see it's none of that stuff, you're Johnson rod is acting up. I'm gonna need about 1200 for that part and the fix up fee is gonna add another 500.

Don't be a cunt

You don't belong on Veeky Forums.

Can you please answer the dang question.

I'd like to give her my Johnson Rod.

Could just be dirty contacts or broken terminal clamps.

At worst a new battery and alternator is cheap $250 ish or cheaper used

'Twas the terminal clamps. Thank you based Australia

Yeah they do, they just don't want to marry pathetic shitposting porn addicts like you

check battery first, it's cheapest and has a predictable life expectancy.

other than that, replace your alternator.

how old is the battery? it should have a date sticker somewhere on it.

See Thanks tho m8s

I want to habeeb

Replace the battery. If that doesn't fix it, it's the alternator.

>i-it's not MY fault women don't want me!
>it's everyone else's fault!
>and if you point this out, you're a f-fucking Hillary supporter!
Meanwhile there's plenty of non-degenerate men in the USA who have no problems marrying non-degen women (women who desire to be barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen)...you know what you lack in common with those men?

Those men who married non-degen wives aren't fapping to anime porn and shitposting on Veeky Forums for 12 hours a day.

If your car can drive with a jump, it's the battery. The battery powers the starter only when you turn the car on, and after the engine is running the alternator powers the car. If it was the alternator, you'd have a dead car and it'd only run briefly after jumping it.

OK OP, I am an actual Army mechanic unlike the retards on this board.

You'll need to measure the voltage across the alternator and the battery while the car is running.

If you have a voltage (should be slightly over 12) across the alternator but nothing on the battery, then it's either a bad battery that won't charge or the contacts are bad.

If however the voltage across the alternator continuously drops and it's the same across the battery and the alternator, then your alternator is shot.

try reversing the poles next time you boost

Thank you for making my day.

I've officially reached the end of today's internet experience now. Time for a peaceful night's sleep on a waterbed full of tears strained through a neckbeard. That's one more blood-stained fedora for my trophy wall.

some auto parts stores will test your battery and/or alternator to see if they are working correctly

Did you try topping off your blinker fluid?

In all seriousness, your alternator is not charging your battery. Replace the alternator AND the battery because your battery is hosed.
