Shit in PvE because the damage you do isn't worth the trades and you're going to do some serious Jeet Kune Do with everyone you meet until your r1 button breaks.

It's viable in duels as far as trading goes just so long as you make sure you time it with the shield frames and not at the start. It's not a weapon for crowd control so fighting against a gank is like being a clam being raped by a bunch of seagulls.

I recommend lots of endurance and quality build. Almost the whole moveset is worth experimenting on. In the end, it's just a one-trick pony (alternative to hyperarmor) but it's trick is pretty good as a niche.

When should I do the DLC for III?

The first DLC can be done very early and gives lots of large shards for upgrading. In terms of straight-up difficulty, it's probably about as tough as Lothric Castle but there's tricks to every early encounter to make them much easier, meaning you can go partway for materials and gear early on and come back to finish the harder stuff later.

The 2nd DLC is straight postgame. It's the most difficult content in the game and there's pretty much no reason to rush there early as everything of value is locked behind a boss except for a couple really specialized gimmick loot.

Go find weapons with a good r2 that can be paired with r1s and WAs. I'm using the dlc weapons and so far Ledo's, gael, ringed spear, frayed and splitleaf can be fun at keeping people guessing. It all depends on whether the r2 can give you better range, damage, hyperarmor or it can be combo'ed.

I find running through dlc2 a lot easier on my low sl than dlc1. Demon Prince is also far easier than friede.
