The lazy personality type seems to have by far the best set of villagers to choose from

You can stop them from wearing custom designs by replacing all the designs with umbrellas.
Apparently sending them 5 of the same shirt in the mail gives a near-guaranteed chance that they'll wear it.

I think it's the window which accentuates it, honestly. Some text like signposts are centered, but normal dialogue isn't. I might poke around and see what I can do to improve it later.

Just did research before posting my reply and it seems N64 games were written in C, which is just a step up from Assembly. Still pretty low level, however. I would doubt Nintendo would rewrite all the code from Animal Forest from C into C++ (which along with C and Assembly are the only languages the GC allowed).

When people talk about C being low level, they mean compared to other programming languages. And I assume that's because C and by extension C++ have greater control over memory allocation (much more left up to the programmer), etc. It's not some arcane wizardry like Assembly, it's much more readable than that.

Speaking as someone who remembers what JRPGs were like in the 80s and most of the 90s, Pokemon is not a simple game

It's almost bizarre how in-depth they tried to be from the start with Pokemon, considering stats and growth and all these systems.

The only reason the games run like shit is because Gamefreak literally can't optimize for SHIT. Iwata's the only reason GSC is so big, they could barely fit Johto on the cart on their own.

If you're talking about the earlier games, the hardware was garbage so they did what they did to make it work. If you're talking about the more recent games, that's because those idiots made stupidly high poly models that lags everything if more than 3 mons appear on screen at once.

Should I get a 3DS XL or a 2DS just for new leaf?

2DS is only 75€ used and I'm not sure if the 3D or the bigger screen size is worth it.

2DS is pretty ugly imo but if you're only going to play one game then get the 2DS.

If not a n3DS, I'd just get a 2DS. The bigger screen size hasn't been worth it on any "XL" system nintendo made because the screens are larger but with a lower pixel density and don't look as sharp.

The main reason why people got an XL over the standard size was because it was larger and thus more comfortable to hold. The 2DS is pretty comfy by itself.
