You have to manually join an FC through fflogs to have uploads tied to a static/FC at all, so just because there's two groups uploading under the FC doesn't mean there's only two groups.

The set you use will depend on how much piety you want, but most people I have seen (including myself) use the Alex hat, shire gloves and belt, and Alex boots, and then swap out the Alex/shire pants and chests depending. For right side I think most people use shire ear, proto ultima or Alex neck, shire bracelet or Alex bracelet, then Alex ring and shire or Proto depending on preference. I use the Alex weapon though I don't have a relic.

There are mathematically derived BiS sets in a Reddit post that you can google.

I've got a few levels in each at the moment and I'm having trouble deciding which one I will take to 60. Paladin seems like the easiest of the three to play and particularly to tank as, though I don't imagine that this means they're by any means the best at it.

I mean you need to use it in fights where people will take fatal damage without a shield and you're doing double ast or ast whm. If you're talking about people who use nocturnal the whole time in 4 man dungeons (you can swap to it between pulls and give the tank a shield, all on the move, which is nice) or in trash fights that can be steamrolled by mediocre DPS that don't have any lethal tank or raid damage then yes, those people are dumb.
