Is your name going to be on a lease or any type of contract? If so, you need to be able to fully understand what that contract will allow someone else to make you do (and what you can make them do).

Check your country's (and local) laws about renter's rights and landlord rights and decide if trading away the legal strength of a contract is worth the extra money you would save.

I currenly pay rent on a 2nd floor of a 2 story house. The landlord owns the house and lives on the first floor.

Pros are that he is always around to fix shit. and, take this either way, but my utilities are included in rent, so I can run space heaters 24/7 if i wanted.
