first time posting character and journal

18th of Last Seed

The last few days have been....eventful to say the least. I wanted to get into Skyrim to go plundering it's dungeons and caverns for battle. Father always harped on how I was, "puny even for a city orc" and "needed to be made into a real orc". Guess that's what happens when a stronghold orc moves to the city and starts a family there.

I took a long way around to get past those damned Reachmen, going through the south of Skyrim rather than the west, but it didn't matter since I got caught up in an Imperial ambush. Empire shackled me and were about to cut my head off, but the unthinkable happened- a dragon attacked.

I followed the guard named Hadvar rather than the "Stormcloak". Guess I grew up trusting the Empire too much. We made it out and ended up in Riverwood. I managed to find some enchanted robes- not too different from the ones the Empire took from me. So many things happened recently- I revealed a pathetic Nord's attempt at libel to his source of affection and earned the friendship of his Bosmer rival, and I've cleared out a camp of bandits with his help. The kind couple who offered me some help, Hadvar's family, asked me to go to the Jarl of Whiterun to ask him for help against the dragons. Maybe if I actually kill the dragon, Father will be proud.

What is the best mod to use alongside Ordinator to fully flesh out the barding experience? I know it adds a whole bard subtree to the Speech tree, but I think it needs something a bit more. I've heard good things about Become a Bard, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't really mesh well with Ordinator, in that it uses different instruments and all.

also since I am a dumb warrior brute, is there a reliable vendor for lock splitter scrolls? I have some unhingings, but there are a lot of 50+ locked chests, and the only security trainer is locked behind the thieves guild

idk if you're playing with any gameplay mods, but magic + rogue is best imo, illusion spells go great with sneaky shit

no clue about ordinator, but I'd assume there is some equivalent of quiet casting that would allow you to do the classic sneak archer but with magic instead

Alteration and Conjuration. Destruction is very boring, generic "kill stuff" spells and so on. Conjuration with bound weapons or minions is quite interesting, and Alteration with its armor spells fits in nicely.

Alteration for utility, Restoration for the buffs.

paralysis, magic armor, water walking/breathing, unlocking stuff - all very neat

in skyrim I always end up going into restoration to get the perk that gives the stamina bonus to all the heal spells, makes cross-country travelling much easier, and is great for spellsword/battlemage types to keep stamina up in combat

Thoughts on vampires for mage stuff? I've heard good things about using the necromage perk with vampirism. (I used Sacrosanct for my edgelord argonian)

I've always found a vampire mage play more of a hassle than anything, especially where Restoration is concerned. If you're going to do vanilla or modded Conjuration, then vampire plays very nicely with that.

Otherwise, pass. For RP reasons, I never roll Conjuration.
